Played for a month after a year and a half break.

    Hello fellow players! xtended2l here, biggest whiner gaming community ever seen lol. I decided to come back to play some EGS to see what's new here after more than a year break, what has been added, what's fixed and how overall game evolved.

    From what I see right now, most noticable changes since last year are that devs added ability to crouch, we can warp while shields are up, new quest systems, ability to insert images and videos to the game, several factions, lots of POI's, and water stains animation from thrusters. I like they started adding item descriptions recently. Really thanks for the ability to crouch, it was requested many times. Additional thanks to Reforged Galaxy and Project Eden developers, enormous amount of content added since last year as I see.

    From the other hand I am a little bit disappointed tbh how many bugs are still in the game, and how many QoL features are not.

    Lets talk about QoL features that were requested a lot of times, but still not implemented. I want to mention, it doesnt mean that developers are going to implement these features or promised (some of them were promised btw, but not all). Anyway I remember googled and found these on official forum, reddit and steam forum posts after I thought "why this feature is not in the game?" and found out these features are in good demand.
    Here they are:
    1. Still no highlight of the damaged blocks in N menu, despite how many times this was requested.
    2. Still no replacement for magical blueprint ship building menu.
    3. You still cannot move around the ship while it is moving, still have to power off all docked ships for mothership to move, you cannot exit moving ship too.
    4. There are still no ability to replant trees.
    5. Still no ability to unload ammo from guns and turrets.
    6. Still no ability to change order of weapons and tools on vessel's hotbar.
    7. Stil no copy block's shape function for building, no name of the shape when targeted with multitool.
    8. You still cannot disable lots of devices to save power usage.
    9. There is still no detailed fuel consumption tab.
    10. Still no animal farming for meat, milk, eggs, etc.

    Now about bugs that are still in the game. I am playing with Reforged Eden as usual, so I cannot guarantee they exist in vanilla right now, but I remember all these bugs were in vanilla previously, and I doubt modmakers affected these parts of gameplay, as they are more related to game engine.
    Here they are:
    1. Solar power is still malfunctioning at planet bases, noticable when you leave the base for a long period. If you come back at night, all your fuel is drained and solar batteries emptied, if you are lucky to come back at day - no fuel loss plus full batteries. It seems the game calculates power usage for the time you was abscent, like it was all the day- or night-time, depending on the time of day you came back.
    2. Enemy movement and animations are still ugly, no inertia, no acceleration/deceleration, etc. They are swimming through the air and spinning like a whirlwind as earlier. And they still have no collision boxes.
    3. Enemy projectiles still teleporting through your ship's armor sometimes, damaging internal devices.
    4. Enemy ships with destroyed generators are still spinning around preventing player from boarding. They are also still able to travel around the map if they are not rendered, i.e. far from the player.
    5. Enemy CV icon freeze sometimes, while it is still moving and surprisingly pop out right near you with invisible attacks. This bug is old like hell.
    6. You can still repair ships at bay without any fuel.
    7. Asteroid markers are not erased when mined.
    8. System map still shows incorrect amount of resources on planets.
    9. Bipedal creatures are still falling into textures when killed, preventing looting of their corpses. Planet drones sometimes fall under the ground.
    10. Vessels sometimes stuck in base textures or in other vessels and start to shake convulsively loosing ability to move.

    I've encountered several new bugs, like recent "content from ships near playfield border is not accessible" in modded sectors which are near the sun, and several others, but they should be reported in bug thread, and seems related to mod.

    Also, the game still has old balancing issues like:
    1. Underpowered Furnaces, portable constructor is better as usual, doesnt need power and has almost unlimited storage space, cannot be destroyed, doesnt need hard logistics, etc.
    2. Ammo controller, which has 320K maximum capacity has less slots than Ammox box, which is 16k. Overall limitation by slot numbers looks outdated, while we have volume and weight.
    3. etc. too much to count tbh, but these are too subjective, so it is better to not blow up already large post


    In the end, just wanted to add that I really enjoy the game again, it has great potential as before. The game that is very different and none of that Star Citizen, No Man's Sky or Space Engineers can ever replace it of course. I see that developers added a lot of content, and the fact they are working hard on the game is really great, while they almost absolutely not paying attention to previous flaws, which is strange.     They just added number 7 in this latest update! I haven't tried it yet myself but you can basically copy the block shape/texture/etc from an existing block for placing new blocks.

    Yeah, I see, but they said in creative only... I think it is not such a cheating option to be in Creative only ;)

    You can do it in survival. In creative it will also copy the block type which would obviously be cheating in survival.

    walking in ships while moving is not a QOL...probably a major code base change required.

    And probably a game rename to erm... 'Space Engineers'...
