    Build: 1.9.2 4016
    Mode: Survival / Creative
    Mode: Single Player / Multiplayer

    Reproducibility: Always
    Severity: Minor

    Type: Player physics (gravity)

Summary: If a ship or base in space is not aligned with the playfield they will experience a "downward" gravitational influence when they jump, resulting in the player's direction drifting while airborne

    Description:
It appears that there is some "phantom gravity" force acting on the player in space when they jump. When you are walking around a ship with a grav generator it acts normally, but when you jump your trajectory appears to be influenced by both your ship's gravity and this phantom playfield-oriented gravity. If your ship isn't oriented level with the playfield you will drift in a different direction while you are airborne. The player's orientation is not affected by this.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Load a creative save, and head into space
    2. Spawn a CV that uses a gravity generator
    3. Level the CV with the playfield. Walk around and jump. While airborne your trajectory will be normal.
    4. Roll the CV about 45 degrees to starboard. Now walk around and jump. You will drift to starboard while in mid-air.
    5. Repeat with different angles. Usually you will drift in the playfield downward direction, though at steep angles the math seems to behave weirdly.

I have noticed that, but then again closest planet's gravity still applies. And you are 2,3Km from it's orbit. Go ahead and see details page of your current piloting vessel.

I thought that might be the case, but the planet was directly behind me, not below me. If it was planet gravity I should have always drifted toward the hangar door. And it also should have affected my character's orientation. Whatever is going on, something is out of whack.

Actually, I'm not sure I've ever tested if planet gravity has an affect in space. I'm always using a jetpack.

Edit: Now that I think of it, I first noticed this issue in an asteroid field. I only moved to the creative planet orbit to shoot the video in a controlled environment.

I jump often from SVs in orbit towards the planet and I always have to activate jetpack in order to move towards the planet and then drop on it. That said I am sure that the planet does not affect the character from orbit. On the other hand you were inside a CV and maybe there was an active gravity generator that somehow messed with the gravity of the planet that I am sure exists on vessels. Like I stated above the details tabs of the vessel when it is close to the planet are altered depending the distance.

I am waiting to see what the developers have to say.:NewWink:
