Hey all, Here's a random one for you... I captured a pirate space station in my current game, and I've spent quite a while customising it. It's now my Solar-powered Refinery and Recycling plant. It also houses a sizeable Farm as well as various docking areas. I've become quite attached to it. However, it's time for me to move on. While I'm far from exhausting this sector's resources or POI's, I want to travel to a different star type to see what's there. I cannot bring the Space Station with me of course, but... What if we had a way to perform limited warp jumps with stations? Literally Orbit to orbit. So, we can say jump to this Star and go into orbit around that body, for example. The area would have course have to be scouted first and, perhaps, some sort of "jump beacon" placed beforehand. Perhaps this jump beacon is basically a small BA-class structure like any other, but with a "Beacon" module aboard. Said beacon would be replaced by the warping station. Considering static stations can't simply run away from attackers, there's a large element of risk here. Perhaps warping stations away from orbital patrols would be prudent. Anyway, perhaps this is a silly idea, perhaps it breaks "balance" for some, but I'd REALLY like to bring my station with me to the next system...
I've been doing a remodel of the Gas Refinery model with a warp drive and nav station- the story idea is that it is falling towards the sun (intentionally .. experimental Polaris ram scoop) and you need to get the warp drive repaired (and the pirates dispatched) within a time limit. Actually being able to warp the station at the end would be a hoot.
