I have a problem with my save file. It's not a very old one, I'm just starting out in the game, but still losing about 7 hours of time is still VERY frustrating really. Is there a way to recover it?

So long story short: my game crashed (twice actually, first time was just a crash and I could just restart and load back in, second one crashed my whole pc), so that may be most likely why it stopped showing, right?
The thing is I can see on "load" only my old "tutorial" save that I started even before that. Not my current one. It still exists in my save folder locally, but doesn't show ingame.

I've already tried re-verifying the game files and deleted the cache for all saves. Didn't help me, save didn't appear. Any other fixes?

Hello, I'll try to give you an alternative solution.

I suggest you start a new game and save it.

Then go to the game files steam/steamapps/common/empyrion/saves/Games/“The name of the game you can no longer load”/Players.

Copy/paste the file(s) within the same file into your new savegame (new game) that you've just made above. You've just transferred your character, so you'll have the same level and items you'd normally carry in the new game.

If you were building with other items, I can advise you to use admin commands to reimburse yourself. For my part, the “ù” key on my azerty keyboard opens the game console. Try pressing ~ key if the key I'm using doesn't work for you. Once the console is open, type “im” to use your item menu by pressing “H”. Pay back what you've lost. If you had put a blueprint of a base, ship or hoover, you can use the “sbp” command, which will allow you to make your blueprints appear without resources or restrictions.

If you ever want to get the land back the way you had it, I can offer to do a test but no idea if it works. I'd still advise you to get yours items back with the commands given above.

Go to your corrupted savegame files again steam/steamapps/common/empyrion/saves/Games/"The name of the game you can no longer load"/"Playfields".

Copy/pasted the file(s) within the same file into your new savegame (new game) that you just made above.

I imagine you've just transferred the files corresponding to your planet(s) from your old game. Obviously, if you want to do this test, appear on the same planet as your old game, so you can check. If this doesn't work, then do as I said above.

I wish you a good day, and hope I've been able to help you.

those are some interesting options! to be honest I've already went way past what I achieved in my lost save, but this still sounds as cool stuff to try :) I'd try the playfield thing and go visit that planet and that place to see if my old base would appear :) anyways, thanks a lot! I hope this helps someone else who'd come looking as well! :)
saving this in case of hazards :"D

Remember to save your game before trying out what I've explained about the terrain. I don't know if it works, and I'd hate to see it cause problems for your game. I advise you to test it on a new blank game to see if it works before trying it on your game.

I'm glad it helped, have a nice day.

Yeah ofc! I'm trying to actively keep manual backups of the saves after losing that first save :)
