(This is for Friday and Saturday) Logged into the Red vs Blue server and started playing Alpha. Very happy with update. Had some amusing encounters with AI bugs, notably multiple drone attack waves spawning in my cabin on Azurus. Yep, it's on video right here: More recently, after creating a "Swiss army knife" utility HV, I am now working on building a base for Blue. Specifics as to the base itself are currently classified. Plans were also drawn up for several upcoming projects.
Continued getting settled in on the Red vs Blue server, and built a nice little wood hut. Really enjoying the new coloring and texturing tools, they really make the difference in turning a dull gray box into something really unique. Oh, I also murdered a dino with the Harvester/giant saw HV attachment, so that was fun.
Screwed about on the easiest spawn I've ever played on for a bit and then decided to update my strike fighter/mini transport ship into new textures and replaced the old core. Changed the colours from black with a white stripe into the opposite to match my suit colours. It might look a bit small, but those railguns will one shot most enemy drones and turrets.
Was busy fri and sat so yesterday was my first go on the new alpha . was gutted that i couldnot copy and paste my base and ships which were full of mats to new game . but hey thats life. gonna have to rebuild resources and get them from my bps . loving the new alpha so far
I took down this saves first POI and made out like a damn bandit. There was other stuff, tons of drugs, mats, But those 2 chests on Akua first POI
The Harvester doubles as a HV Melee Weapon!? Epic!!! Did it also auto-collect its loot? My latest going ons in Empyrion is to play with much of the new stuff in Creative Mode to get used to it, then I built a new Post-Alpha Revision of the Tyrax Starter HV & complete it. It's also now Shared on the Workshop for anyone who likes my work. It's a tad less barebones & has a bit more then the first one did, lacking only a Fridge, Harvester, & Manual Fire Minigun, but in exchange will be stronger then the other one & has Oxygen Tanks the first version lacked, so may find itself more useful then before in the how long ya can have Cockpit Air. I've also begun play on the Red vs Blue Server & have joined the GMTs as a Miner, Builder, & Merc. Still working on establishing myself & leveling up, & also already working on pulling my Weight for my Team, i've already fallen in love with the new T2 Drill using it to Mine out a entire full Magnesium Vein in one go. (In the process I exterminated all the ground from underneath a Eggplant that was unlucky enough to be parked on top of the Magnesium Vein. it looks damn silly seeing it sit there magically hovering over this beautiful huge hand carved hole in the ground. XD )
No, sadly I didn't expect it to, but it would have been pretty amusing to find both wood and meat in the harvester container Also, was glad to see you made it onto the server Hop you enjoy, and don't hesitate to ask me for anything you need (assuming I'm online that is ) Thanks It's actually the first base I've build that I've been truly proud of
My GMT buds are already being awesome peeps. I asked for a Minigun & they promptly put one right into my Hands, good sense be damned, & helped me find Ammo for it so i'd have my epic firepower at Level 1! ^_^ (First time I ever knew that Unlocking the Minigun affected the ability to Craft it & its Ammo, but had nothing to do with ability to USE it. In hindsight this was a Mega Derp on my part considering the game lets ya use a T1 Drill before ya can get to L3 to be able to Craft it & its Charges. ) Naturally i've also set out to make myself useful to my buds as well, after getting hold of a T2 Drill & starting to exhaust my Hunting Options, I solo Mined out a Magnesium Vein to Resource Up the Team. (I LOVE YOU T2 DRILL!!!)
I did a very, very stupid thing. I started a new game in a decent seed chosen at random, managed to build a basic but nice base (I’m planning to move to Ningues for the main operating base) and as soon as I hit level 7, built a bare bones SV to mine more effectively. When I visited Akua’s Moon for Neodymium, I got hit several times by a POI and after escaping with my tail between the legs, landed in a safe spot to perform some repairs. Here, the story has one nice surprise and a strong recommendation. First, I found that you can harvest the Blue Crystals in the Moon! They are scattered around in small groups. The strong recommendation is for when you repair your ship in isolated spots. After repairing the damage that was apparent, I checked the ship console and saw that the RCS was still pending some repairs, so I step outside with the R&R tool to fix it, and by the Glory of Jebediah’s Mother I pressed the wrong mouse button…. I destroyed the RCS. Stupid me, I used the first R instead of the second R in the tool..... Have you ever tried to fly a SV back home without one of these, with the O2 and Hunger meters way low? It’s doable, I did it, but the stress… I enjoyed the adventure every single second, but only after I safely landed sideways in my base of course. So, the recommendation is, if for any given reason you decide to visit another Moon or Planet and your ship does not have a constructor (with supplies!), then at least bring some spare parts with you.
LOL! Happened to my brother just before Alpha arrived. He got hit bad by a plasma turret, and lost his RCS. Had to fly all the way back to base camp going upside down and backwards And yeah, bringing spare parts is great... so long as your cargo bin is encased in hardened steel so you dont accidentally lose THAT!
Today, i used ALL kinds of bad words, REALLY loud, inside my head, after i had a creative session crashing on me, which meant 100% destruction of my 24-hour CV build..... gone... vanished... destroyed.... HOPED it was just some fluke, and restarted the game.... but nope.... EVERYTHING is GONE!!!! grrrrrrrrr I give up on Creative for now, untill "random crashes" are fixed (Can't make an actual crash report, as i re-fired the game, after the crash, resulting in an overwritten log file. the game DOES load with the error though...*)
Ouch, always a bummer to lose your work Best advice I can give is: blueprint as you go, especially after a major revision. Yeah no worries at all Personally, I've been doing some work updating my old warships and various SVs to take use of the new blocks and texturing and all that fun stuff. Not much to show for it yet... perhaps soon though
I've been reworking a small space station I'd built (built in pre-Alpha survival, but the rework is being done in Creative) and debating whether to build it from BP for the current game, go with another asteroid base or start another one from scratch.
I dedicate a Cargo Box exclusively to holding Spare Parts, especially Spare Cores, Spare Cockpits, & Spare CSs. (I learned my lesson after twice having to traipse around half the Planet back to my Base to make then bring back a replacement Cockpit for my downed HV.) Know how ya feel. I get the 'Quit & Email' Internal Error once in awhile & push the damn Quit & Email button then have to Alt Tab & find a damn Error Message telling me that it failed to do its damn job cause 'my Email Client is Installed wrong' even though I use Gmail, DO have my Mail:to set to Gmail & my Main Browser is Firefox... yet the damn Mail:to won't quit trying to use the damn IE. (Which I loathe & refuse to use unless I seriously have NO other choice...) Best time for it while Alpha's currently too buggy to try to do any real fighting.
Oh, yeah - every one of my vehicles has 1-2 cargo boxes for spare parts, extra fuel and oxygen, rifle, pistol, ammo, coffee, tools and medicine. Between crash landings and the occasional death, it helps to be prepared. /me almost got stuck on the moon once by a CV fuel tank explosion
