Review Request Since you guys do a lot of fighting - could you share your experience with the available weapon systems and ship layouts? Including suggestions about possible development/balancing? I think its a very underdeveloped part of the game. Currently i wanted to build a missile cruiser but then i thought: "Hey just another aesthetic build. But what am I actually doing?" I have the feeling the best ship AA is the mini gun but the firing arc is way to limited. Instead of the aesthetic setup along the hull it might be better to build circles around the main body of the ship. 30mm seem pointless in space - unless u face dull ai. Sadly as base defence there is no 15mm and the missile/flak will do the job only when massed up. The Sentry Gun idea is ok but its ineffective and no match for the 30mm when it comes to Bug/ground troop defence. I'm also not sure it makes sense to theories about manually fired ship wepons yet. I put 4x4 150mm rockets in front of my cruiser and i dont feel i need anything else when it comes to capship battle. One Volley = 3 layers of reinfoced blocks gone. So currently the fun in fighting is more between SV- VS.-SV then anything else. Prolly a bit SV-VS.-CV while the latter usually gets carved out by the sv. Last time i did sv against sv (in space) was in pre-alpha and it felt like tournament knights on speed. And what about the blueprint system. Do you think it might become a problem to spawn unlimited pre-fabed fighters close to the frontline? Since you do a lot more fighting i'm eager to hear your experience so far. Which scenorios/layouts might be worth a look in the current game state and which prolly not?
Yea, I think we should do something about this, I mean if one joins the party later and finds no iron ore for example, his forced to search for asteroids, but without materials to build anything, he is forced to do so by foot, a near impossible mission. That may scare off new comers if no one is there to assist them. Not sure if possible but can resources be reset or maybe POI’s, that would help somewhat and also add some challenge as there is nothing to do from the moment you established the BA and the SV… @=TCR= Big_Red Mate if you need anything just say so, have enough to build an armada probably…
After playing on the Red and Blue server for a week now. Which has been the best server for performance I have tried by far. Good job to whoever looks after that side of it btw. I can't help but feel that there needs to be something more... Than just mining ore, spawning vessels, and waiting for an event that you may get a chance to go to. We have it to easy from the start. Every ore available on the same planet. Not even any threat from drones or dropships. No POI to be afraid of. If I can make a cv with the best guns available before going into orbit then something is slightly off imo. I warped to a snow planet hoping for something new to find or do. But it was fruitless and all I went back with was some meat. Not much of a prize for the 10 crystals it cost me for the trip. I could build a base on a pvp planet but what would I gain from doing so? There is nothing on that planet I can't get on danube at Lvl 1. I feel like I am probably ranting. These are just my thoughts and no offence is meant.
this is problem for every MP server...after first few days there is not much to do but building and mining....at least in this server admins arrange some event...and the huge battles at weekends...
Let the games begin then..... Or maybe we could organize some Air Races, Red Bull style with an epic for a prize?!?...
I don't think it should be a problem for every mp server though. And why should it be for Red v Blue v Grey? 3 factions is a great number imo and could have a lot of potential for fun to be had. There needs to be risk v reward in the environment we play in though to make it enjoyable for any extended period. Even something as simple as only 1 pvp planet that spawns the rare ores erestrum and zarcosium. That way all 3 factions would need to interact. Whether that be in peace or ending in a pvp battle for the resource gain.
Those two are active players. Xan hasn't been on in a couple of days. My goal isn't RvBvG, more like RvB+G. We have a large enough faction, and enough ships to play apart in battles besides just team filler. Barnstorm through a floating CV.
Well if Gray is going to be an active force, maybe they need a proper color? Also, not a bad idea. But I also have Bp of what I call "race rings," which are super simple CVs shaped like rings that a player would fly through in succession. They even include thrusters and stuff so you can move them and change the course as desired. Hmmm maybe we should declare an area of a certain PvE area to be a racetrack, and set something up there, with competitions and prizes and such. (I'm thinking Danube Beta?)
This looks really cool, I think I may check out the server tonight. Quick question I like building my own designs would that be okay on this server?
Awesome. Looking at joining red since they seem to be a little lower population wise. I can't wait to test my designs. I might be able to get my co worker in on the action.
Heya, if you're interested in Red team, just be sure to spawn in on Pyrite N99, Razr, or Furian should be able to take care of ya if I'm not on when you log in
Ho boy I can see it already..... http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net...dracers.png/revision/latest?cb=20130118055046 I think Arturius mad one of this once We need to select a desert planet for the HV races and orbit for the SV's then...... PS: is there any way to change speed limit in planets? the yaml file maybe?!?... 40 is just so lame.....
We're useing Grey, Black, and Orange for those flying corporate colors. There is always the Rogue Planet. Build it there, and then have Brokenshackles swing the planet close enough in to jump to for a weekend. (as its not part of our traditional lore, we can change the enviorment to desert, lava or what ever). MechPilot had a great idea for a scenario. A race to core a POI first, I'd assume we'd have to place it in a core room.
After ya Spawn it in, ya still gotta Fuel, Ammo, & Gear it up before it's truly ready. I'd rather Spawn it in within allied territory, or better yet near my House or Clan Main Base, then get it actually ready, then Fly in fully ready. If the Resource Nodes are Respawned, my new Underground Base will be compromised. Plus we'll just Mine them out again as fast as we can cause we'll want the Meteors back. POI Resetting sounds feasible, except some of us built near those too. Last I heard there are plans in the works to do something about this, including for peeps like me that have Unstable RL that makes being able to attend the Weekend stuff a problem. Later on down the road, being able to fly around & look for Skirmishes with Rival Factions may become feasible, especially for the Reds & Blues lookin for other Reds & Blues. Suggestion: Gladiatorial Tank vs Tank Combat! You betcha. I'm making my own Designs too. Boss, my Player File had a tragic accident. Mech & Slam helped me get back on my feet & CrazyFly was also epic help via Transporting my Hunter Miner back to me that I had thankfully had set to Faction so he was able to Core Replace it & set it to Public & I regained use of it. There was nothing that could be done for my House or War Tank though, but the Tank is BPed & can be replaced & i'm making a new House now. I have Re-Applied to the Clan & need Accepted please.
Too bad there can be some sort of mad max desert style race setup where its a pvp map but the HVs have no weapons at the start. But along the way are cargo crates, some with weapons, some with ammo, some with heal packs, some with fuel packs...
I've actually considered this before. My idea was to find a good PvE location to stage at, where an admin can BP both Tanks, then spawn them in in a PvP arena of sorts. Both players would have time to fuel/ammo their tanks, then do battle. After a winner is decided, both (now likely damaged) Tanks would be destroyed by an admin, the players involved transported back to the PvE area, and get the arena cleared for the next bout. I think this could be a good way to test designs that ordinarily don't have many opportunities to do battle or get tested in general. Also, you could theoretically take the concept and apply it to any type of combat... SV-SV, CV-CV, CV-SV, etc. I would consider these on par with Middle Ages tournaments... you get to practice your fighting, but for the most part, it's a spectator sport as well as a way to train and learn in a proper battle scenario, without the risk of losing major assets or lives. Perhaps we could set up something like this as a mid-week practice battle? Allow some folks who aren't around during the usual PvP time to get some action in, and, in general, I think people would enjoy having a chance to fight the other factions in a less serious manner.
