well here is the issue with this. The GMT faction resides in Danube Beta, so resetting Beta is out of the question, however Alpha does not have a planet, and i think we should maybe create a planet there, and have all players go through there.
Err I think you got that backwards. Danube Alpha has the planet based on Omicron, and is the default spawn for new members, as well as home of the GMT. Danube Beta is a large asteroid field with a few POIs in it, and is mostly empty as I recall. Regardless, I agree, since GMT is it's own faction, we should have a separate starting planet from it, which, like suggested, is wiped regularly. Maybe even majorly restrict crystal spawns there, so the only true way to get out is to join a faction that can come pick you up?
Agreed, or the noobs can go all Mad Max on that world if they want. Go ahead, drive the civilized Peeps to us Factions's waiting arms... ;P
I love the idea of having a few space pirates on the server. The biggest problem with that is factionless people's location can be seen by everybody.
I am not sure about the crystal thing. From a user retention standpoint you would want players to be able to enjoy the game and explore the server. I suspect people would not stick around as much if they aren't given the chance to play the game.
Well, I mean, if they go the way we prefer them to go, and join a faction, they can get picked up quite easily and it wouldn't be an issue. What it does help prevent, is people forming their own little terrorist faction, then having free range to kill and grief as they want, and otherwise cause issues like we've had recently.
RGC's newest additions to the battlefleet spotted on a testrun! beware, this is classified information
Ultimately as one of the administrators such is your decision, but in my experience punishing the general population of a server for the activities of the few just leads to frustration and dissatisfaction on the general population. Griefing tends to be a low effort activity where they target the low hanging fruit so chances are griefers would mess with the general population homeworld only or target other servers with easier access for shenanigans. I would see want the effect of a general population homeworld would be before making more restrictions on player progress into the server.
I will be dismantling my Andromeda soon anyway since its a pre-alpha bp. I didn't realize I was supposed to keep it in space my apologies. It depends on how it is gone about for example. If they made this starting planet have no crystals. It gives new players time to learn about rules, be directed to the forums, and if anything, admins and/or people with ships/crystals that are willing to take the risk could give them a tour of the server. This in and of itself may have an impact on recruiting. They could even roleplay a bit more and even tho I've never been fond of recruiting in chat. If the people doing it are creative it can be funny. Tired of sitting on the starter planet? Want to explore the galaxy? Love to battle and trade? Well my good ladies and gentlemen the Grey Market Traders could be for YOU!!!!! Tour the Galaxy!!! JOIN NOW!!!!! Lol you might have to imagine that with like that announcerman guys voice.
If you remember I tried to take out some of it with my heavy bomber when Compania owned the nearby POI, only to noticed that the percentage wasn't going down. The bomber has 20 rocket launchers and I fired a full load. 100 rockets total. Least we still have neo mets sometimes two at the same time.
Ahh, I had forgotten about that. Then I wonder if the game bugged & failed to deduct the blown up Ore from the total? :/

Personally i would make everybody who joined the server pick a faction upon startup screen. Wasn't that the idea of a server called red v blue? Cos it's what attracted me to the server in the first place. I honestly thought it would be stricter than it is tbh and was am still a little disappointed it is so laid back on people not joining factions from the start or very soon after.
GMT, at this time DO NOT touch the Walrus (in space or Planetside) or any ships attached to her, she is bugged. Danube is currently under core limit, it will be much lower once I fix the Walrus and her escort fighters.
No, the server save file should be untouched during this process. I'll let Shakles introduce all the features and details, but we will have a new website when it come back up
