Decided it was time to build one of the many sketches I had. So I did. Introducing, the Naga Frigate: Naga Frigate (front, center) in the Warship Workshop. Also visible are the Minotaur Cruiser (needs to be re-built: right, top, background), the Satyr Battlecruiser (center, background) and the Ogre Cruiser (bottom, center). Of these, only the Naga is fully funtional currently. Got a few more in the pipeworks, but nothing I can show off yet. The fact that we can't spawn ships from Pre-Alpha without getting memory leaks makes me sad But it also forces me to make entirely new ships
loving all the posts so far... I'll start my updates when I'm a bit further along.. keep em comin guys/gals!
Completed the outer Hull of my CV (for the first time) .............also put a stack of T2 RCS..so I can rotate it towards sun (still super slow though)....already over 80K iron ingot required in BP... Bottom Top
.I will...SV in a tube maybe ..Its painful to build...and the darkness in the shadow...can't see anything...
Spread the RCS dudes out along the build to cover all of its area. Don't just sit them all in one place. Ya can use Dummy SVs with Spotlights for movable lighting. Also, my latest going ons: I got my new Tyrax Dragonet "Iji" geared & armed up after Spawning it in on the RvB Server, but haven't got to actually start flying it around again cause I ran outta time & now have my fav Aunt & Uncle visiting so I can't MP any more for a few days.
With this new exit to the top of the cab. I just use the SV lights and pop out onto the roof to see and reach every thing.
Couldn't bring myself to explore in a ship I wasn't totally happy with. I will be bringing the current Clydesdale home to Akua and park it next to my base, unload/dismantle much of it, take the goods to space and start on version 2. I've already blueprinted a framework. Taking some ideas and methods from people who do it very differently, and liking the results, this time I have sketched and designed the shell first and shall be working inward. Presuming final dimensions are in place, version 2 will be (W,D,H) 29 x 41 x 10. +/-1 because it's not finished. Compared to the version 1, 19 x 33 x 10 The main body is actually roughly the same width in most places - most of the extra width is the more pronounced engine pods to the sides (largely aesthetic). It's a bit longer to expand some of the areas that were a bit cramped in the original, and the hull shape is better planned and less convoluted. Layout will be very similar overall though. Planning to spawn this in surival and get building!
still working on my CV, build the cockpit outline , also put fwd and backward thrusters and made main engine room
So I started a new Survival game to start actually making use of some of the stuff I've been designing, including a starter base I did today. I was wandering around the general area, noting the nearby iron, promethium, cobalt, and copper, when I saw... this: Dammit, I'm going to have to make a base that bridges that gap aren't I..?
Red-Blue server was real weird tonight. Lots of problems with my SV moving sideways and then later it was trying to disappear into the ground. Brand new build today so not a pre-alpha build. As soon as I got into it. It was back on surface. Did this 1/2 dozen times. It was like the SV was sitting on butter.
Yeah, been some amount of that happening lately. May have to do a full wipe of the server in a few weeks. Will notify everyone well before we do, though. Until then, try landing on a BA whenever possible. Even if it's just a 1-layer thick "landing pad," it should help stabilize the ship and prevent undue sinking Also, on Topic, worked on (yet another!) new warship today. This one will be heavy destroyer / light cruiser, depending on loadout and final size. Edit: Here's some pictures of it. Since pre-alpha ships cause lots of issues, I'm going to re-claim the Gargoyle name from one of my old ships that I don't feel like rebuilding block by block Like it's namesake before it, it too is of the Destroyer class, though this one is of much beefier build.
Did absolutely nothing today because I was out drinking. Yesterday night though discovered how to build a weapon of mass destruction..... so Red Giants beware
When parked on a steel pad my SV was sliding to the right ever so slowly. Then when it got to a wall it would try to do a mind meld. It was a real pain out mining because every min you had to check ship to make sure it didn't disappear. I'm wondering if the private message and these problems are related. BTW earlier in the day I couldn't get out of the pilot seat in orbit in my CV (Alpha build) so I had to try logging out and back in. I got a mail in error. I don't use a mail program on my main system. Have it on other's but not this one. So I get passed the error message. Turn the game right off. Restart took along time. When finally loaded. I found that all my supplies in both constructors was all gone. Even my SV was gone (reason why I have a new build now ). So with over 10k worth of supplies gone I had to bring my CV to GMT home planet. No landing gear and terets on the under side OMG. Very interesting day yesterday lol And yes my CV is back off the home planet.
My solo survival corvette construction is going well. Totally scavenging parts from the Clydesdale to make it happen. Sorry Clydes, your hull was too awkward, the new corvette is everything you were and more... With a very different engine room design. Finally nailed down enough of the new design to figure out where I was putting generators, fuel tanks, the constructor, and food processor. With those in place (and having confirmed the garden is growing in the right direction) I can sustainably live up there while I finish the build. The only problem is metal. I need lots and lots of metal. Clydesdale is being slowly gutted in favor of her replacement, and I may have to visit some of the defeated POIs to start taking them apart. Anyone know why we're building space ships out of STEEL? Steel is heavy. Like, seriously, titanium anyone? Ah well. At least magnetic boots work.
I agree that Steel Spaceships are silly. I'm hoping better Materials are farther along in development. (Perhaps including Composite Materials.)
I suggested many time to change the names of the materials to more si-fi themed but apparently it is a very hard task...and people are more interested about how steels should have been named (hardened or reinforced) instead of having some cool named si-fi materials... AS for what I did today in EGS?? NOTHING... I am kind of bummed after I found out I can't make a monorail in my CV using a SV..
