Hope the Barracuda didn't go nuts with the Lights. Heck, I can see my way around my Underground Base without Lights so i'm thinking of not bothering to use any except of course some Plot Lights for my Farm. Also, there's those Textures that act like Lights that don't emit light... maybe those could be used in place of actual Lights sometimes to save Server CPU? Also, being limited to Grey, Black, & Orange is a hell of a challenge...
Yes, what he was talking was probably the Geforce GTX 1080 and 1070. however it running 4k with 60 FPS may be based on different games (We won't know how the 1080 performs until its starts arriving on peoples door steps. but it will run 1080p and 1440p great though, on a single GPU, but the thing that the new pascal architecture will be great at is VR. if you haven't seen their special stream, i recommend watching it. It begins the show at about 27:10. BTW screen size doesn't matter all that much, just tells you how much the pixels are spread out, its the resolutions and the game thats being run that matters.
No, the best way to save on Server CPU is to know how to light, as well as adjusting your monitor to a comfortable setting
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE INHABITANTS OF THE SYSTEM: This letter is mostly in regards to our recent activities in Danube Alpha with an explanation of background events. Over a week ago, TFB made the mistake of flying a capital vessel over our primary base on Jotunhiem, "Delta Vega", despite a skirmish being waged and repeated announcements and warnings by us in regards to our stance with Jotunhiem as a protectorate. To date, GMT and RGC have by and large respected our territory, and they have our gratitude for that. TFB was not happy with their lost ship, and some time later after we had all logged off last week, they took advantage of the fact that offline protection doesn't work and griefed our base on Jotunhiem when nobody on Blue was logged in. They also ambushed a BNS member when he was in an unarmed ship, stole it (and left it private in the hopes that nobody could trace it), and fled like stray dogs into Danube Alpha. They refused to show their heads and fight, perhaps because even they knew they couldn't stand a chance head-on against the Blue Team. So instead of neutralizing them with rockets and plasma rounds, we're neutralizing them with blocks. We have already completed bases encasing their capital vessels still in the system - one capital vessel is quite far away, courtesy of a physics bug. One pair of vessels has been encased without TFB tags, but rest assured the capital vessel involved was a captured BNS ship. We infiltrated the vessel's interior with a drone and confirmed via photographic analysis that it is the same vessel that TFB stole from us. The capital vessel above TFB's base is, of course, still under construction. Completion has been delayed by lag induced by the window blocks used to build the capital vessel. (So yes, it is a lag box, though we didn't originally intend for that to be so.) We will encase TFB and ensure they will do no more harm to us - and coincidentally no harm to anyone else - Whistleblowers and doomsayers among GMT are being paranoid and intentionally misreading the events to breed conflict between GMT and BNS. I have already spoken with the leaders of GMT and RGC, and there are no objections with the campaign BNS is pursuing to settle its conflict with TFB in the only way in which it is capable. Furthermore, some GMT members have assisted us in our operation, and hopefully this is a sign to you that our operations do not and will not harm GMT. We regret having to eliminate TFB in the manner we're pursuing - we would rather settle this in combat, even though our victory in that field is virtually guaranteed - but given their cowardly tactics it's our only option. - MechPilot524 Administrator of Blue Nova Syndicate Addendum: The vessel "Project Barracuda" is a prototype assault destroyer, soon to be commissioned as the lead ship of the Barracuda-class and will be properly christened "Sharpfin". It is not a lag ship - the lag is being caused by the giant nearby CV - and will be in full service in the Naval branch of the Blue armed forces soon.
Lol going to have to borrow a ship to see this sounds hilarious. At least this is helping us ease tensions between Blue and Grey forces.
We actually decided to push the maintenance and downtime back a week to incorporate more stuff, also because more time was needed before the maintenance that would have happened early this morning. Currently, the plan is we will take the server down at the same time frame except next Tuesday. The maintenance would have been this morning if we had done it. As a result, we can several operations with one period of downtime: create the website, wipe the server, and add new playfields. We are discussing giving GMT a moon, and creating a new default spawn zone for noobs. The details of this are still sort of being discussed by the faction leaders, Brokenshakles and Methodik. But we should know for sure before the downtime happens so that Brokenshakles and Methodik can make it happen.
Ok. So I may have missed this, and forgive me if I have, but are all current constructs in the game being wiped? Are we starting super fresh and clean? Like Level 1 survival style?
Hey all, let me try to clarify: There will be no reset today. There will be no wipe today. Plan for a full MAP wipe come next week, Tuesday May 17th. This wipe will remove ALL structures, vehicles, and clean up playfields in general. In theory, your character level, progression, and personal inventory should NOT be affected. However, everything on the planets and in orbit will be wiped. The main reason for this is due to Pre-Alpha builds causing memory leaks. Because of this, once the restart has occurred, we ask that you NEVER SPAWN PRE-ALPHA SHIPS IN THE SERVER. If you'd like to re-build a ship from Pre-Alpha, please make a creative single-player game and do it there. Again, the full wipe etc will occur NEXT WEEK. Please refer to the chart below for your local time (or let me know if I missed your time zone!) GMT Corresponding UTC (GMT) Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 06:00:00 AM Local Times UTC -7 hours: Costa Mesa (USA West Coast - California) Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00:00 PM PDT UTC -5 hours: Mexico City (Mexico - Federal District & USA Central) Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 1:00:00 AM CDT UTC -4 hours: New York (USA East Coast - New York) Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 2:00:00 AM EDT GMT UTC: Danmarkshavn (Greenland) Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 6:00:00 AM UTC +2 hours: Copenhagen (Denmark) Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 8:00:00 AM CEST UTC +3 hours: Moscow (Russia - Moscow) Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 9:00:00 AM MSK UTC +9 hours: Tokyo (Japan) Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 3:00:00 PM JST UTC +10 hours: Brisbane (Australia) Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 4:00:00 PM AEST The downtime will last from the specified time until 6 hours afterwards. So, what can we expect after the wipe? - Personal RvB Forum for all RvB planning and discussion! This will allow us more greater flexibility and ability to prepare and organize as needed for events and otherwise. - Solar System changes: we will be changing up the map to make it a little more interesting, as well as to expand certain areas to prevent overpopulation issues. - New server hardware: a few new drives will be arriving, which should theoretically increase server performance and reliability!
Yep. So that's why you need to blueprint everything you want to keep. I will personally help Blue Team members respawn and recreate everything we previously had. We will also be able to help everyone get back up to level 20 again, the fun way
Do you mean murder? PLEASE tell me you mean murder! Also, as far as ships go, I'm unsure if Furian's cap ship that I spawned in was post alpha so am unsure if it has the leaky blocks.
Yes, Badger, everything can involve murder when you do it right. I think it's post-alpha. But you should double-check with @Furian to be sure.
No worries! One of the reasons I'm excited to see the new site up is so we can have proper threads for each issue/event/idea etc. Keep em organized and easier to find/remember
Yeah, and also have a dedicated section for each faction. This way we can easily communicate and read stuff offline without leaving it here on the Empyrion forums, and we can also use it as more of a database - for example, capital vessel blueprints.
All great ideas excited to see something that will be new to everybody not just my self. A moon for GMT hope it's earth like. Not like the moons are in SP. I'm thinking a few old structures and ships laying around could give a air of Fallout 4. Could be used for new players as temp or to keep. But have them build with nothing in them. Not even a core. The player can do those things. Even some ships with nothing in them. I'm talking none CV ships. Would make it look like the game has been around a long long time. Just a idea guys. I had given up MP years ago. But you guys have brought it back to life for me. Thank you. And thank you Empyrion.
