I may be in trouble. Was a bit zealous making my SV so quickly. I went to the iron ore deposit to find... well... I had problems and had to come back. Problems in the form of a minigun drone vs a pistol and 8 bullets. I disassembled my SV scavenging for metal pieces. I now have no vehicle, and 28 bullets. Oohboy.... Edit: Yep. I'm dead. Had to get shoot some scorpion things on the way there, one infected me with a parasite, and when I got to the drone I didn't have enough to kill it. Bullets don't respawn and the other iron deposit is even FURTHER so... I think I'm going to have to call this one a bust.
Nuke it from the orbit, it's the only way to be sure. On the side note. Love the pulse rifle because it sounds exactly like the one in the movie.
I started a new game (was getting a weird bug with the constructors on the other one, and figured it may be the save) and have just started clearing out POIs. Took out the core in the Drone Base today, eagerly opened the purple container (would it be an epic pistol to replace the one I'd had last game? the minigun would be cool, or that sniper, yeah ....). I'm now a member of the Epic Laser Rifle Club.
I haven't used the laser since Alpha, but the job it did best before seemed to be killing turrets - and I do that with SV rockets. The pistol on the other hand - I'm like a spaghetti western character. If I'm alive, I've got a pistol on me. If I'm not, well - there's a spare in the SVs ... and the HVs ... and the CVs ... and the base, outposts .....
I'm continuing work on my CV in Creative Mode, which is including a Mad Empyrion Science Experiment of using Elevator Blocks as Corridors as a substitute for Gravity Generator use in combo with simply Jetpacking around in Main Rooms. I'm finding some interesting results with my experimenting. When Elevatoring around in my Corridors after Installing Elevators in their default Orientation which would put their Floor side down, & being nowhere near any Gravity Source, not even any Planet, the Elevators keep holding me up onto the nearly opposite Orientation from how I should be grounded. It makes me wonder if the Space Playfield has something to do with this & if I may have found a way to 'sleuth out' the orientation of the Space Playfield... If so, we could FINALLY have a way to find the Space Playfield Orientation for things like determining how to place Space Bases in good enough Orientation for functional Farms on them & such. I wouldn't say no to help in determining if i'm onto something here or not. 1x1x1 size Corridors occupied by Elevator Blocks on a CV using Default Orientation made damn well sure I placed them on the CV's 'Down' direction. (Hopefully.)
Started building my CV at my space station. Got in to move it a bit away from my space station then went to look at it jetpacking around and it took off. Sadly I watched it fall off the bottom of the map. Oh well theres always Eve Online
Sorry that's funny. First time I went to Space I got out of my ship before it stopped. Off it went leaving me adrift. Saw a space station in the distance. So I thought I would try and make it. On my way two drones came after me. Shot one down with my rifle but the 2nd one got me. Did a respawn were I died. No bag nothing. As soon as I got to the space station it opened up on me. Dead again..lol
Mighta been better off trying to get back to your Ship. Anyway, got a hell of a lot more work done on my CV. I've gone through 3 Incarnations of the dang thing just trying to decide how i'm gonna go about its Propulsion & Engineering Room. Hoping this 3rd go's a charm. If I get this puppy done, it's gonna be a hilariously large dude for a single Peep... & to think my CV's just for hauling my Iji, a Hover Tank, & maybe occasionally my Hunter Miner around... Me & my love of Power & Brawn. (& doing damage.)
So I finally got an Omicron start far enough along I'm satisfied I'm not going to be completely dead-ended any time soon. Escape pod came down close to a mountain lake with a nearby iron deposit. Exploring was pretty long distance, but I managed to find all the basic resources (all HUGE deposits, quite a walk but doable) and shot down several roving drones for parts which got my construction kickstarted. Haven't had many base raids or seen any POI's... But! I am quite happy with my "Foxhole" base. Super compact, totally roughing it. Seemingly disconnected parts such as the door and the landing pad are connected "underground" (placed by glitching the player drone through the cave wall*). My new SV. Not sure what to name her yet, but handles nice and was cheap to build. Space for weapons and fridges later, but fast transport and a mobile O2 station are going to be super helpful as is. Edit: I found all the POIs once I went exploring with my SV. Wow, they're 1/3rd the way around the planet. I'm gonna need a closer outpost if I plan on taking 'em on. * I realize it's a bug but the effect is so helpful for building this kind of base, I really hope they don't fix it.
I got ambushed my five drone on my platform which was supposed to be my first base and now when ever I respawn they kill me again Time to start a new world
Quick tip: ! The moment you build a base starter, they will come! So get prepared, make up some bullets, load up your weapons... place the base and quickly build a bit of a overhang/shelter. Then you will be prepared for the goodies that get delivered to your door
Decided to expand my cap at the shipyard in Aestus orbit, when my mate logged in, and went down to the planet, in one of his light fighters. During a fight with a couple of drones and the server lag he was shot down by the nearby power station turret. When he spawned at the station in the orbit I was already on the way to my dropship and the SAR operation turned into a 'I want my epic crap back!' At the crash site he jumped when I was hovering at save altitude, on the way to recover his stuff. While he was fighting the lag, I took care of the drones and the turrets and some overseers which were advancing to the crash site. After about 5min he was back in the dropship with all his gear and we left the crash site and the dark unfriendly planet surface.
Also: how often and how many come to visit your new base is affected by how close you are to their bases. It's hard to know without doing a lot of scouting first, but if you do spot a POI early, find a good base location further away. And if you start a base underground (like after drilling into a hill) they'll have a hard time spotting it and you'll have good cover on the cheap. I've been in the same shoes recently, had to restart a few times with different seeds to get a good foothold start.
Been working on my new base. It began as my "simple base" design, but I've added to it (as usual). I'd already built a landing pad for the SV on one side and a farm building out back. Today was mostly spent adding in the physical plant on the right (which has the generator, fuel, oxygen tanks and ammo box) and raising the main building to two floors. The new level is now my workroom, with a pair of constructors and some storage (mainly weapons, ammo, tools, medicine, blocks and devices). The ground floor has the fridges, food processors, the recovery stations and more storage. I also left one constructor down there to handle water, hydrogen and promethium refining. Really pleased at how the workroom came out - the view out the windows is great. I may fiddle with the texture on the central column, though. Edit: and also paint that bit of ceiling around the top of the column ....
Lots of foraging, mining, and skirmishing a POI. They like their troop transports and there's a lot of POIs in proximity so I'll have to be really careful. While scouting, I set down my SV after hovering a while. Stepped out. Heard a noise. I looked back to see this. Crunched. ...Ok I admit I shot it first, I don't think SV ramming does damage. Later back at my foxhole, I experimented with the regenerative powers of the med station to heal ongoing asphixiation (or whatever makes Omicron air deadly - plants need oxygen too!) Health bounced between 490 and 470 but it was apparently in equilibrium. Good to know. If desperately short on O2 and needing to wait for whatever reason, hop in the med chamber and take off helmet to save that air for when it counts! Try to ignore the simultaneous burning and tingling in your lungs and... well... everywhere.
yes..med chember will kept you alive from hunger and oxygen..@LiftPizzas made a afk corn farm (works will all farm-able plat) in his S2 of Empyrion LP videos..(can't find the video as I don't remember the name of the episode)
