Today? I am currently working on my "Loreley-Class" CV and think that I can present an early version of the ship soon.
Today... I played Rambo. Omicron start, came down near an enemy base - just outside weapons range. There was a mangesium deposit nearby too. Aforementioned base was on a flat area, but working in my favor I landed in the gulleys. I found a gully with a puddle at the bottom and set up my O2 gen there, survival constructor nearby. The magnesium, I didn't want to mine out in the open because there were drone patrols and the new starter drills force one to stare at rock. So, I dug a 50m tunnel to the ore from the nearest gully. Someday my base may grow out of this. But then to make things interesting, once I had a little magnesium powder stockpile, I thought why not just start attacking the enemy base? I'm not even going to build a base of my own (for now)! So... I crafted an AR, loaded up on LOTS of ammo, and proceeded to raid a POI with altogether too few medkits. I was at one point inside the enemy base, secure for the moment with 5 health remaining and no healing items. I was eating every canned veggies I looted for the 10 health each until I found some proper medkits. Looted a T2 pistol pretty quickly, that was a nice helpful boost to my firepower. Found the core, didn't fight my way to it yet because I was so low on oxygen I had to make a strategic withdrawal to my constructor... through about six overseers and wandering crogs who'd been getting deposited by dropships while I was busy inside. I also discovered the spiders are back. Whyyyyyy, Eleon...
Screw both of those Cockpits for SVs, Cockpit 2 FTW! With that said, I can't help but to wonder if my Iji has anything to do with ya Blues starting this Project. I take it ya finally realized how not up to snuff your current dudes were?
I'm wondering why you guys don't build cheap disposable swarm ships for PvP. Basically a Cockpit with engines, sitting on a single gun... EDIT: I'll post a picture of the ones I use for my SP game when I get home tonight.
No, we hadn't built any fighters yet because we were building more important things, I was (and will be) working on warships while the rest of the team is working on securing our territories. Barracuda was meant to fight large capital vessels and bases, not SVs. And if turrets worked at all, even Barracuda would have knocked you out fairly quickly....
I prefer Quality & power over Quantity & "Ant Army Strategies". With that said, who knows? I may someday experiment on how small & micro a SV Fighter I can possibly build. Never know. Yeah, Turrets need more love, i'd hate for SVs to become useless vs CVs but it'd be fair for it to take many SVs to take one CV imho. (Barring if a CV is a unarmed civilian CV or a just plain badly designed one...) At the very least CV Minigun Turrets could be a bit more useful... & maybe the Plasma Turrets... & Channeled Laser Turrets would be cool to make it suicidal for SVs to get in close range of a CV & force them to keep some distance from their foe & at least give the CV some respect. Until then... considering current circumstances i'm surprised ya neglected your Faction's SV Military Power so long. Iji craves worthy opponents.
Took my slightly modified ZeroG copperhead to a large base on Ningues and spent 20 mins killing everything inside and picked up yet another epic shotgun. When I finally emerged from deep below the ground I found that a couple of large minigun drones had burnt it to the ground. Spawned in my newly acquired Lightspeed Fusilier and sort revenge Ningues is now almost conquered
Finished my Starfury bp, now just have to mod it for better combat potential. Come on quitting time, need to get home and work on my real job lol. Humm, may need a cobra bay as well as it won't fit in my hanger.
Today? I don't have engouth time. I mean, every time I finished a project, I get 3 or more ideas for new vessels/bases. But at the moment I exercise myself in reverse engineering. I rebuild the old escape pod as an HV...
I wish that would have stayed in the game. Don't much lIke the new one. Devs took it out to slow the game down I guess.
Found this on the Steam work shop. Loving it. Giving full credit to the owner. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=686220082 Owner calls it the Shujaku.
I managed to sneak in a little starting the build for how small a SV I could manage to build cause I needed the help Relaxing this morning... If she eventually turns out any good i'll consider showin her off & maybe ask my Clan Boss on the Red vs Blue Server if he likes it enough to consider it a Submission as a possible Faction Model.
This is the tiny SV design I use in my SP game I was talking about earlier. Super simple to build (this one has a railgun, but you can mount whatever) This is the combat version - the Wasp. The non combat version (the Hopper) has a O2 station mounted where the ammo box is on this one (at the back) and has O2 tanks, fridges and cargo boxes along the sides of where the gun is on this one.
Today I took the Masperon fortress and claimed it for my own along with 4 epic weapons. Finally got my epic assault rifle, 2 actually.
So, this most recent game I referenced "going rambo" and assaulting an enemy POI before I even had a base of my own. Well, that was successful, so I made some 'modifications' and repurposed the base as my own. Xenu Vehicle Port Mk1 I think it was? Had a nice garage, where I spawned a frame and spent all morning building an SV. Then I went to attack another POI and it turned out to be the exact one I just conquered, which since it's now my base I know the interior perfectly. Parked the SV a good ways away and strafed the turrets, fought off some nearby probes and robots, and finally rifle-drilled through a section of wall straight into the core room, bypassed most of the enemies. Very clean (except for dying and having to strafe the turrets again to claim by backpack). Well, I shot down roughly a dozen drones on the way back to my SV, and I was greeted by this sight. Yeah, that hole? That used to be the fuel tank and the RCS. All morning down the drain. Somebody had plenty of time to shoot through basically everything important. If this is what I get every time I tackle a POI, why do I even bother with a nice looking SV? So discouraging. I want a shield generator, or a sensor jammer so nothing detects my SV when its shut down...or something. I don't know, what else can I do to ensure I come back to a ship that flies? Sigh. And I'm not walking through Spiderville to get home in the dark. Guh.
A HV is a better unit. You can use auto terets on it to protect its self. So SV to take down Alien Terets then go back with HV.
@NafreiuX Say, that looks familiar. This might not be the one, but it's similar to one from the big "Sci Fi Ships poster": http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/eve/images/e/e5/Avatar4.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20080927210405 I am trying to recall exactly what it reminds me of. Perhaps a unit from another game.
Hehe, that does look a bit like Avatar, a Titan-class ship from EVE online Although I'm planning to build landing pads and docking area on the other side.
Progress update for deep space orbital base: built the upper section as landing area for SVs and two huge docking ports for CVs:
