Searching Akua with my new SV after returning from my first moon and asteroid mining trip. Suddenly many drones suddenly appeared. Let's get them all.... I strafe my SV to the left to attack them as I roll a bit, then strafe back to the right to straighten out but I hit the "F" key by mistake... Instant ejector seat as I was also rolling at the time. fell to the ground and watched my ship continue to float away. I did get my ship back with repairs... and have since remapped the "F" key away from my fumble fingers.
Setup a 2nd base on other side of the planet so I don't have to work in the dark. Just a small basic base. In SP.
The use of ammo boxes and constructors was mainly visual. Constructors have a lot of storage space, though. And the ammo boxes are where I'm storing handheld weapon ammo. P.s. I hope, if they patch anything with regards to storage, they give us "just a box" that doesn't draw power. And maybe some storage options that look more like, I dunno, a cabinet or a desk with drawers. I get tired of just big crates.
Today I fell in love with my chainsaw. So I did a custom start on experimental. low resource infinit drones sorta deal. Almost bare escape pod. First night I run around looking for all the ores so I can make anything. (No ore in the pod) Night 2 I dig into a cave and start crafting. I have a ton of rocks for cement, just need water. My cave is close to the lake so I figure screw it ill run. 5 spiders later in under water low on air and 8 minutes till dawn. I figure its a hail mary play, and go leatherface on the spiders.... Chainsaws stun while hitting stuff. >: )
Smaller stuff... bigger dudes like Otyughs are best circle strafe Chainsaw'd down. & DO NOT try to Chainsaw down a Golem while willingly staying in its face... Oh yeah, also for the Topic, i've been playing the RvB Server Mining Resources, workin on my House Base, & building Spare Parts for my CV to gear it up, then will work on Ammoing & Fueling it.
Started building the inner chambers - since vital equipment is meant to be placed there the chambers are constructed with combat blocks: Then an idea popped in my mind - these chambers could use a hangar door! Alas, the pitty - door doesn't fit because of odd width
I tried out my Out of Date Tyrax Dragon Transport vs a RGC opponent on the Red vs Blue Server... she didn't last even 2 minutes... The rest of the details are too embarrassing for me, I don't wanna talk about it... >_< Well, one note: I experimented on having all my CV Turrets empty & not Pre-Loaded with Ammo before crafting into the MP Game wondering if that'd dodge the CV Turret Ineffectiveness problems... no go. So much for that idea.
I have now gone into Creative & checked out the new Hangar Doors quite thoroughly. Totally digging the ability to stick 2 together with their Bottoms pointing toward each other to make a Super Door. Also my Tyrax Hover War Tank & Iji both fit through the Medium sized door just fine as long as they don't try to do it at too big an angle. (Especially in the case of the Tank, or the Top Artillery Turret & Door can have Issues.) I've determined that there's no way in hell I can adapt my Transport with the new Doors, so i'm totally gonna have to make a new CV... if I can ever figure out how i'll wanna go about it. Also got acquainted with the Multitool & am delighted that it does not cost ya the Resources used in the T1's Crafting, it'll return Materials that are in the T1 Recipe that's not in the T2 & does not ask for any materials used in the T1 to get it Upgraded to the T2. Still useless for Upgrading anything out of reach, like Hardened Steel Blocks below the Bedrock, but meh. Checked out the changes & new stuffs with the Doors & Windows too. Wouldn't mind a Windowless Armored Door next so Intruders can't just look through the Window for a sneak peek at what may lie behind that'd be of Interest to them. If I was willing to let Intruders see what lie in wait for them, I wouldn't have bothered to put a dang Door there in the first place.
I've been playing a low-resource SP game on Omicron since 2.0 came out. I have to say, having barely enough ores to craft the absolute minimum base is challenging. No grow plots and no sprouts so hand-picked food only. I had to go mining without even getting the constructor built, because I made too many of the wrong components and was 3 cables short (one ingot!) The only copper ore I could find was 300m from a POI, had to dig a trench to get there - then I got a drone attack warning and had to run back over a kilometer to where I'd set up. At least the first wave is only one drone.. Later I ran out of cobalt and had to spend a few game days trekking around to find the only deposit of it. My base site is near iron, promethium and copper, no idea where the magnesium is. This is an extremely difficult game if you run out of bullets, I was actually waiting for drone attacks to get more pistol ammo. Finally went and raided a Xenu Power Station to get more assault rifle ammo from the aliens, lucked into a bit of magnesium ore there. I also picked up a couple of pearthing sprouts which finally let me plant something and tick off that tutorial step - planting aloe doesn't trigger it. I'm now considering whether to keep my proto-base or move into the Power Station. Next step, build a SV and find that damn magnesium. It better not be under the drone base or I'm in trouble.
Yes, huge thanks for devs for not making a frame at the bottom of a hangar door - now my orbital station can have a proper entrance:
He meant no Frame on the bottom part of the Door Item goofball. It's a shame the Frame of the door on the sides & top refuse to line up & synergize with the Blocks we have, but i'll deal with it. Still damn glad to have'em, especially the just arrived Odd Number Dimensioned ones.
So... in 1.72 something, last chance I had to play, I went attacking a Xenu power station with a T1 stock SV with a gatling gun, and killed its turret fine. 2.0, I took the same SV, upgraded to a railgun, went up against another Xenu power station, and got shot down before I'd emptied half the magazine. Bad day or did they up the damage on those red-bolt-spam turrets? So I tried to run home - which was unfortunately on the other side of the Xenu base. Tried to skirt around the edge. Died. Also, why do I insist on restarting the game every friggin time I die? I genuinely suck at this game. I love it for so many reasons, but I suck.
You can play and survive and enjoy this game with out taking on POI's. Work on POI'S slowly or not at all. In time when you learn more and have a large base with resoures you could try POI's again. Go to Space.
Came across an Abandoned Factory on Omicron for the first time today.. decided to go raid it as the sun was setting. Big, BIG mistake. That place is terrifying and deadly. Hardened steel everywhere so you can't shoot the walls out. Actual, literal nightmares chasing me down dark corridors. "Surprises" that I won't spoil. I had a LOT of ammo and by the final few rooms I was using the random weapons from loot to break through doors (they spawn with full clips). That place is awesome and I don't recommend it to anyone that's easily frightened.
