Here's the SV I built. At first I wanted to use the rounded parts for the outline, but they turned out to be rather bloppy and not really elegant, so I went with the pointy ones. The main weapons are two pulse lasers directly below the cockpit, two plasma cannons in the tips of the "arms", four rocket launchers in the "arms", beside the plasma cannons, for area bombardment, and two gatlings atop the cockpit against smaller enemies (no use wasting pulse laser charges on foot soldiers). Turns out the mysterious towers on the moon are ghostrider defense posts and strafing + plasma cannons makes short work of their over-ranged defense turrets.
Finished by first 'mega' build today; a replica of an Eve Online ship. I think I need to take a break or something now...
Caldari Wyvern. Posted the workshop link in the CV BP thread, but here it is again for more screens: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=710431419
I may be a month or 2 late on this since I just started playing again a few weeks ago, Who ever designed the Abandoned factory, You are a basterd..... OW..... joking aside I am amazed at that POI.
The moon doesn't have an atmosphere so it's quite likely they were able to fire at space ranges, which on the surface is just outside identification area.
After around three and a half hours, I finished the reconstruction of the outer hull from Movius D7-Cruiser at friday. Left side is the old pre-alpha vessel, right side ist the reconstructed hull without any pre-alpha blocks, only normal steel blocks. Today I want to color the hull dark green and convert the steel blocks into combat blocks. Then I give the hull design back to Movius, for his own use / revision.
Not sure, I worried that I screwed it up, initial settings were all "normal" I'm not sure if you can influence a live game (as opposed to a newly created one) As it happens tho I did eventually find a poi with one solitary drone patrolling, and a subsequent visit to Omicron moon revealed a ton of drones ...
I'd had enough of my hover being wrecked and walking half the planet with all kinds of animals chasing me, eating me, poisoning me. So I souped up a HV armed it well and spent time just annihilating the wildlife.
I too kinda didn't like having this happen to me... after the third time, I started equipping my Creations with 'Spare Parts Boxes' so i'd have the Spare Parts for Field Replacement already on hand on the spot.
I really should get that one finished. It's still only half done after all this time. Unfortunately, due to its shape, it will never land on a planet (the bottom is the same shape as the top). On the plus side, I can put hanger doors in now.
I like how ya use a Gal Player Character as an Example of how to act like a 'Real Man'. I got a bit more work done on a new CV Build. That's about it.
I prefer the female avatar, better armor coloration. The irony is not lost on me though!!!!! Clip is longer but meh watching me shotgun my way though epsilon fort is boring
I was busy today. My current survival game is going nice - took down the drone base POI whilst living out of a cave. Now packing pulse rifles and an epic sniper I looted from there. But that seed so far has been...interesting. The resources are REALLY spread out. I still hadn't found any copper. With materials salvaged from POI's I'd be able to build a blueprint for sure... but I needed said blueprint. Sue me, as cool as many others' creations are, I prefer to use my own in survival. So I decided it was time to build a really rock bottom cheap HV and SV, mainly for scouting, no amenities... Just enough steel blocks to make the thing look good, because I'm tired of flying bricks. I'm quite happy with my new HV, the TrekTek M1. The poor man's resource lite hovercar, with real style (and room for improvement)! Left space for O2 tanks and headlights, but I didnt want to make them part of the bp. My SV was kindof a ripoff of the front third of the T2 stock HV. Somehow I didn't get any pics. Oh well. But I didn't stop there. I decided to experiment with the idea of 'microboxes' some more - an SV consisting of nothing but cargo blocks, energy-free storage. The obvious problem is they only work in bases, because with CVs they're gonna fall through the wall when you move. Too bad you can't load in a bp with a landing leg and have it already docked. ...So I came up with the next best thing. This is a demonstration of the microbox installer in action! It does require some space, so it will only work in some bigger areas (or during CV construction). Simply spawn in the installer, which is frontloaded with two SV cargo boxes and a docking foot, line it up with the desired surface, mash forward until docked, power down, and disassemble everything but the two boxes. That can then be added onto if desired, decorated all sorts of ways... as you can see I decided to try making this one look like a desk. That last image is unfortunate, but completely avoidable: if anything's clipping into the ship blocks, it will dislodge the SV upon reloading the save. So, no clipping and it's fine. I may have to make another version that delivers a docking port to the floor, because this thing works quite well. Tested it, flew around, the only problem that came up was the clipping->undocking. Quite happy with this! The possibilities are as endless as your machine's ability to handle more craft.
Well, I started work on the CV that was mentioned earlier. It's designed as a long range recon vessel that won't ever land on a planet. Even with the 36 large thrusters running, it has 25 hours of power in Idle state (we'll see what happen when I start adding gardens, life support and living quarters).Unfortunately the colour scheme didn't survive the version updates since I last worked on it, so I'll have to paint the whole damned thing by hand. Progress though. Outside Spoiler Inside the hanger (those are 15x7 doors) Spoiler EDIT: here's the power section before the game assets got updated. These are all roofed now and there's a new warp core in a big section that I didn't know what I was going to do with previously. There are 5 power rooms and each room has 10 fuel tanks. The small room in this picture that is covered is the core room. Spoiler
I'm enjoying the hangar doors ! Only got one on my planetary base so far, but man it closes with a satisfying sound
