I keep forgetting which poi I clear and which one I have not cleared. So I made a marker. At a glance on the map I see base next to poi, ok cleared that. POI isolated, have not! (allo wood, 80 planks, no core)
Thats a darn good idea... although I think I'll make one with just a big skull and crossbones and radiation symbol and call it "X" on the map
After spending a fair amount of time play testing my newest ship, the Orion, I've finally released it into the wild! It went through a few minor changes since I first built it, specifically it lost it's second constructor in favor of extra storage and a food processor. I'm extremely happy with how this ship turned out, both in appearance and its ease of use. Seeing as CV combat is kind of broke at the moment I foresee myself spending a very long time in this ship. Check it out if you're interested!!
Looks like a neat and handy ship, rather economic. I doubt my current project will satisfy such criteria...
Started working on the rear part of the ship. Still a big lump of steel, but we'll get it into shape soon. The large, still open room is the hangar and the block below will be the generator/warp core room.
Working on a CV myself. I'm going for a compact solo survival build, not really focused on redundancy or armor. I've tried a few hull shapes recently and was never quite satisfied, couldnt strike a balance between compact and enough internal space to fit everything. I think I'm on a good track with this one. Early framing went like this. It's an even number build so I'm having to do it all by hand - no symmetry. It's not gonna be heavily armored really nor have much in the way of redundancy. There's space to slap some turrets on sideways on the "neck", and lasers or rocket launchers inside the "wings", but I'm not sure if I'll do that. What's the point of making an SV-esque armed CV that doesn't have any armor hardly? Turrets may stay for landed on the planet, but I'm not sure how far they can angle "up" (outward to the sides) so they may be of limited use there. The chief purpose is to be a cheap starter or emergency-use warp capable ship. I have dozens of other hull shape ideas, but they'd mostly end up proper corvettes with more meat than this.
Nice ship outline. Reminds me of the Daedalus/Prometheus ships from Stargate. Finished the hull on the rear. Time to wall off rooms in the interior!
I had the same trouble for the longest time. I took some advice from @LiftPizzas I make the floor first, get a idea of what I want in it and wrap the frame last. I can mold the frame around my floor but its harder to mold a floor to your frame.
Trouble? I think it's going well. Compact low end starter CV is what I was going for. I tried that method originally too, but I ended up with exteriors that I was disatisfied with. Being OCD, I need my ships inside and out to have a look that I like. Nowdays I design with graph paper first, including a basic deck plan/general layout idea to make sure everything I want will fit, and drawing the basic shapes of the craft from top, side, and front or back - if they all look good, I build the frame in creative mode and go from there. The deck plans usually change on the fly, but I know ahead of time the internal volume can house what I want. The last hull design I liked, but it had a lot more surface area, thus a lot more steel blocks than I wanted for a starter ship.
With my brother on the official Eleon server (branch Dev). A quickly base in wood, and Platform in concrete for the Manta Targa.
Finished the works on the hull, including thrusters and guns. Still pondering whether to use the transparent or nontransparent versions of the shutter windows for the galleries in the forward arms. (Compare images 2 and 4, I did one arm this, the other that way.) Any opinions?
Finally finished the tier 2 standard CV for sp. Time to do some modding :/ It seems really fragile. And it burns through H2 like crazy. Added fuel tanks, disabled all but 2 engines, added 2 plasma and 2 minigun turrets, added artilery, fitted a stand alone close range defence pod. I should add a second. Planning to redo that hv-hanger. Now it's time to overhaul my SV.
It's my single player "I want to explore and conquer everything"-build, also probably a "I put more emphasis on looks and badassery than usefulness"-build. Anyway, I finished it (so far) now. Meet the ISC Alekto: Front and rear: Hangar interior: Engine Room: Bridge and Captain's view: PS: I was wondering, can HVs dock to SVs, too, or only CVs? I played with the thought of building a small HV carrier-SV to transport a Hover Tank from my CV to the surface.
Ahh, in that case ya are going for Aesthetics & Theatrics. In that case, Transparent will work better.
