Created my first Hover Tank and shared the Blueprint in the Workshop. I was able to take out the drone base on Aestus with no problem after many other strategy attempts.
Another (semi) sneaky thing to do is to land a CV upside-down, then drive an HV onto it and dock. Now, you have an extra gun platform that will attack enemies and act as a defensive shield for your CV Plus a better angle for hitting ground targets from the air. Especially effective with Artillery turrets on the HV
I decided to take everyone's advise and use a SV for Alien bases.. It is so much easier to take down bases with a SV but I hope they improve CVs fire power and ability to take hits because a CV should be able to take out a Alien base faster and easier than a SV. So far I have destroyed two Alien bases with my SV and only taken a few hits. lol Here is my new SV I built, I call it the black mosquito. LOL
Right, so weekend is over and slow progress on The Mako Shark Carrier was made. I parked it on Omicrons moon for this. So in between raiding bases, killing drones, looting and destroying the very unstable crashed Hyperion I only managed to tidy up the internals in a few areas. But overall it has the right feel I think. A large cavernous barebones / industrial space where ships can (and will) be built Looking down the length of the upper hangar Finally installed the warp drive, very plain and workmanlike, sorry for the crap wide angle view Also went a bit mad with putting guard rails up, not required really, but it makes it look finished and proper !? Oh and moons are great places for building, provided you take a lot of food and o2 No critters, low grav, no hassles 108 Grow plots, thanks Hyperion for those and more Much head scratching linking all the decks up with ladders / gravity ladders, next time they will be done very early in the build and the shell done around them, not the way I did it in this one Busy now on the engineering section, constructors and what not, also the second gravity generator, because the length of the cv requires it sadly. but the areas at only 25% ... so no pictures yet
It is big, I'm still toying with the option of a mezzanine level in the top half, mind you people can always customize it to their hearts content
I tried building a speeder bike type HV, but it did not turn out as sleek and small as I would have liked. Now I have some sort of steel hornet that flies very well and climbs mountains without any problems, but is still somewhat far from what I initially conceptualised...
Some of the palms vanished when we built the core, then others got in the way, had to be cut down We left one out by the 'dock'. Sadly no decor objects for beach/dock furniture The distillery in the basement is makin all da booooz. It certainly is a bit more difficult to start out on hard difficulties. Had to basically 'walk' around the entire planet to get resources enough to start building all the needed stuff! Thus, why we kind of slapped together a wooden structure to start lol! Wood was easy to make
Ahhh yes, I also can't find my speedo .. damn escape pod crash problems. Yes the customisable difficulty really is great in that sense. I've been starting on Omicron and literally making a hole in the side of a hill, and building as best I can from there
I made a Fridge that fits in the same spot as a T2, but holds twice as much and is self sustaining in case of base power-outage.... with a docking pad underneath, it even sticks to CV's forever (kind of hard to move lol!).
And then I made a set of DDT's (Deploy-able Defense Turrets) that I can plop down near my SV when I go into a POI that protects my stuff from roaming/patrolling drones. Also can be deployed around bases, or by dig sites. One has a pod so a player can man it themselves.
Old school. Back in the day we had no choice but to start on Omicron and we had to walk uphill for our supplies both ways. /shakes cane
Had a funny situation on omicron moon. Was digging out silicon 15m below surface and was ripped apart from turret bolts out of nowhere I killed the next poi though but apparently there was another alien base on the far other side and this must got homing missles to find me in my dughole. No terrain breaches though. Never had this on omicron or akua. Maybe the very low gravity has an affect on the turret hitting mechanic?
