Here's a question for you more hardcore players; can you change the bedrock level on planets? I started building my underground Vault, but I hit bedrock at just 20 blocks deep...

The entrance reminds me of the original Half Life game ... :)

TIL that one can simply SHIFT+CLICK to fill a fuel tank. I had previously been dragging and dropping packs individually.

    /facepalm

Well I joined a multiplayer game a few days ago and this far I have been able to build a small base on Akua mined and refined enough to spawn in a small SV and CV from the original list.

I was then able to down in my fighter A1 and by the time i get home from work the Icarus will be finished and ready to deploy. I set up my perminant base on a desert world in the PVP area and am interested in seeing what my Defense can handle. Trying a new tower with 4 plasma cannons on the sides to deter people from trying to hover above my base and blow the turrets.

My base was set up inside a tabletop mountain and I am now mining out all of the areas for enclosed hangers and bunkers. Making sure to have redundant systems spread out through the base and lots of antipersonel turrets inside

New elevator design think it will be much easier to incorporate into sleeker design aesthetics.

Heh, are you using the offset-bug on the current elevators? ;)

Yeah, the elevator projects its aura beyond its bounding box. So I put a flat panel infront of it. Elevator block is behind it :D

This only works for two sides though, since the whole offset is shifted to a corner. So this neat design can only work in a certain direction. Nice idea though, makes for less 'beams' in the way!

I wonder if you laid then horizontally would it make a conveyor type structure?

That worked? I thought I tried that and it was still offset in the same location (even after rolling the elevator sideways). But that may have been something else, and I'm recalling wrong ;)

I've been endeavouring to build an additional CV for carrying my Bumblebee hover tank around the solar system. My main CV turned out to be way too large and heavy for planetary operations, so I am now trying a much smaller build, with no hardened or combat steel and the steel only for the hull actually, with the interior done with truss, glass and walkways. Since I started designing my crafts after insects (mantis, bumblebee, wasp, hornet) I thought a scarab might be a good model for a flat-bottom cargo CV. The "legs" of the scarab will house the thrusters and several minigun turrets for defense against drones on planets while the central dome will contain the engines, warp drive, utilities and the space for the hover tank.

Actually on my current ship project I am doing that. I discovered a bunch of bugs this way, Had to send in a copy of my save. IE Did you know you cant walk over an elevator on its side from 1 direction only.

My mistake just easy and north side of the placed block. south and west nogo.

Well returned to find my base completely gutted, only thing left was 2 lights and 5 elevator blocks. So my design was obviously bad.

One bright spot was that my CV was finished but the last place I wanted to deploy the Cerberus was on the planet. Found a spot above the Mesa and placed it. Had enough fuel on my person for 2 mins operation in atmo. I moved her to a location near some crystals and collected enough for the return trip to Akua

Had to land the beast on Akua as I didn't have any mats for a SV without scrapping part of the inside of my shiny new CV so down we went. By bed time I had fuel and mats enough for a basic SV so I am back in action

Gentlemen, it is now official: This game has bugs. Flying bugs, with minigun turrets and warp drives.

    The "Scarab" HV-Drop-Ship:

    scarab_2016-07-28_01-51-00.png scarab_Backup_6_Backup_2016-07-28_02-07-33.png
Guns and Thrusters are in the legs and there are only miniguns and sentry guns, so it can operate just as well in atmosphere.
    Interior:

First view is from the cockpit/bridge balcony, the second from the rear end of the ship over the horizontal hangar doors through which the HV is hauled on/off. Warp core and RCSs are suspended from the ceiling and accessible via the upper walkway.

Power usage in atmosphere is at a comfortable 15%, block count only shortly above 1100 and mass at 2,5 kt.
