So it appears that in No Mans Sky ship landings are done solely through "autopilot". I feel that's a bit dumbed down or maybe Empyrion has spoiled me
Well, even like in E : D has great manual landing, where I guess there is a docking computer (if you like living on the edge of being blown up at the hands of the computer) ... but I never use it. Same with others like Star Citizen, and even the X series to some extend. Although I love to bash Space Engineers... the flight and manualy landing in it is quite nice.... if you dont explode because you turned on a rotor in the process... or came too close to the edge of a 'connector' and it flipped you upside down. But ah... thats another story.
That docking computer in E bugged out on me once when I tried it out, and ended up getting my ship blown up in the space station! Never used one since in that game.
http://www.polygon.com/features/201...sky-first-impressions-review-preview-10-hours In the long run, Empyrion is going to outlast NMS easy.
Yup. I consider NMS to be like how ED is... its fun in spurts, I will play it, explore a bit, make some progress... then put it away for a month. Come back to it, rinse, repeat. But EGS, its like... play a lot, play a little, always seem to be playing it each week regardless. And it will only get more so as the game progresses and gets more features through alpha, and then lands into beta.
NMS reminds me of something I read about Spore back in the day, it's a game 10 miles wide, but only and inch deep. That said, I am basing this off a few youtube videos and could be totally wrong, and I rather enjoyed Spore for a time
Just finished watching 100min of NMS. Love it. Auto land is just fine for me. Grew up with a standard transmission. Really like the auto transmission now. NMS looks really interesting. Something different is always good.
I must say that in the recent X games I tended to use the docking computer much more than manual landing just for convenience sake. If there is a dedicated docking platform, and that is what appears to be the case with "No Man's Sky", I don't mind a docking computer. If however, there is free landing wherever you want, I prefer the Empyrion manual landing hands down.
Heh... yes, slew of hate reviews. Half are from people hit by the 'no-launch' bug that steam caused during instal (corrupt), another half upset because they didnt realize you have to click and hold on everything to make any needed changes to the default screwy graphics options. Then a helping of trolls who are just upset for no real MP.
Eleon is in this game to make money lets not lose site of that fact. NMS will make a **** load more than Eleon will ever think of making.
I've had it for 2 days now. Played about 4 hours total. It's an exploration game for certain. I can see where things could get "mechanically" repetitive quickly. But I am enjoying it. The dialog with the alien race is interesting.. I talked one into getting married today... no joke. And he gifted me part of his dawry. I've been to 3 planets and the space station so far but have not left the system. Have killed some enemy NPC but no space fight yet. EGS is an incredible alpha and will continue to get better, but I don't find EGS and NMS to be in the same arena to pit them against one another. Just doesn't fit. Kind of like I don't put EGS and SE together as EGS isn't trying to make every block use "realistic" physics to do it's job. I enjoy EGS more than SE because it doesn't try to be so complicated. Anyway, if this thread stays alive I'll report back after another day or 2 of playing NMS. Rob
NMS = live the hype! Pay 59,99 pre-order for day one patches and repetitive gameplay Make PC gaming great again in 2016!
Are you one of the rage-refunders? Man, the NMS forums are ripe with a bunch of raging children. We really don't need that **** here too.
Hehe Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaage! Nope, i already learned my preorder lesson a while ago and will never do it again. Never buy without having read multiple propper reviews And even then never pay such a retarded price unless you wanna make PC gaming great again because you support propper business practises and a groundbreaking game experience.
