Many players have asked how to get Empyrion working on there laptops and or to improve FPS to make the game more enjoyable. One of my grand sons bought this game without me knowing, Empyrion from the Steam store with a birthday steam card. The best we could get was 8 to 9 FPS on the lowest settings. So I got to thinking some one must have built a desktop graphics card to laptop adapter. With some searching I found one plus there are a few You tube videos on the subject. So I going to order the adapter and try it out. It also needs a PC type power supply which I have a few of. Thats a very cool thing Red, and should really drive people back away from laptops for gaming rigs, its a very graphical example of how under powered most laptops are for intense gaming, if you ever wanted or needed a reason to build a tower over a laptop, this picture is why. Besides its not really a laptop anymore once its all hooked up like that , you might as well go for a tower if your building from scratch. Nice post Red, no doubt will help alot of laptop owners do the ''math'' on there own video cards power a little better and a graphical solution is always the best, has the most impact , should help lots of people. What did the adapter cost ? And does the adapter require any special drivers from its manufacturer ?
Someone with a laptop that has a strong processor and memory would probably consider this part of a "dock" solution. Also, after following the links there are 3 different interface types. 1 of them does not require you to open the laptop. So the portability of a laptop for travel and make it a gaming rig at home doesn't sound too bad. Me personally, I will always have a desktop for gaming. And always recommend that to others. But for those that already have a powerful laptop, this could be a game changer. The cost was $38 shipped, on sale for the next 6 days then looks like it goes back up to $56. Didn't see mention of drivers anywhere, but didn't look to hard either. Cheers fellas!
Personally I always use Desktop (built a custom one about 5 years ago, and just been upgrading it as I am able to afford doing so). Used to use Laptops for a long time, but for me personally, the portability just wasn't worth the reduction of power. Everyone has different priorities, of course. Regardless, awesome video, had no idea you could do that with a laptop! Will definitely be an alternative I can suggest to people now if they are so inclined.
