Ha! That is hilarious! Took me a second to find it: I thought they were all benches, but no, no; I mean, just in case you fall asleep:
Look at the shape of the hedge to the right in that pic. It's the little ship from Asteroids. Explains the poor condition of the base. The little bugger shot it. Edit: Also noticed some rocks I missed texturing. Fixed now.
I took a second to update myself on the announcement thread, then came back here and was looking and looking, and then I found it!
So, after seeing this beautiful asymmetric castle, I decided I needed to make an ugly Asym CV. Well, I didn't intend for it to be ugly, but it sure turned out that way. (To be honest I didn't exactly spend a lot of time on it...) Either way, the main reason I built it was to ferry the stupidly massive Mammoth around. Either way, feel free to laugh at the blocky, awkward design of the Mammoth Catcher CV
"stupidly" & "massive" is an Oxymoron. Also looks like it'll be longer then I thought before I can do my next Asymm. RL got a bit uncool on me & the rest of the time i'm distracted on playing with the new stuff in 4.0.0 Experimental tryin to do my part for the Incoming New Hover Mechanics.
So you are implying that massive HVs are the logical choice? If so I'd imagine I'd see a lot more of 'em Stupidly massive, in this case, just means that: A.) It honestly doesn't need to be that big, B.) It would probably actually function better if it were smaller, and C.) The resources required could probably be much better used elsewhere
A1: I love Brawn & in my Shamelessly Biased Opinion no such thing as too much Brawn. B1: Let's test this dude with the New Hover Engines FIRST before trying to make such an Assessment. C1: Maybe... IF it turns out to be impossible to ever get a Mammoth into ANY CV that could try to Transport it to useful places... & also this is a WORTHY use of Resources if we ever find a way to make a fun PvP Red vs Blue Event with this dude... like if we have a HV & Ground Troop only battle with the Mammoth serving as a "Boss Monster" perhaps. &/Or maybe like a prior PvP Event with HVs & Ground Troops vs a Base.
(Sorry to OP for driving this thread off-course! I'm gonna have to build a few more Asym vessels to post here now ) Well the Mammoth Catcher CV was an experiment for exactly that. It seems that the Thin Hull blocks, if placed low to the ground, can still allow a massive beast like the Mammoth to clamber on and get seated. With Full Hull Blocks, it would never be able to get on board, as there would come a point where it is perched halfway on and halfway off, effectively "beaching" it. However, with this knowlege of the Thin Blocks working, I can plan a real CV to haul it around. Or maybe adapt one of my current CVs for the task. Hmm.......
Your vessel is awesome, and, kind of like Cotoktoto's tester vessel(although I would never compare you to him slam, just a reference) it is most welcome here. Experimentation is a perfect example of the potential applications that a-symmetry can be applied to. Although, when I first saw this video, I thought you were going to gun the engines and ride that ship off the platform! Yee Haw!
I use Ramps now placed in such a way as to have the lowest level of the Ramp be = to Ground Level. Before that Ramp Top & Bottom Block usage was the best I could do. Also in hindsight it is probably also prudent of me to apologize for my Off-Topicness as well. I hope I can get more Asymms done & contribute to this Thread more in the future to compensate. I've always been easy to distract... That dude looks like it'd be a fun SP CV.
Link man, LINK! As in, a steam link or the blueprint + jpg! If it is not finished yet, I get it, but still. She is a beaut, I wanna see it in creative! Wow!
The ship is finished, but i´m not sure if i want to share it.... i am giving the matter some thought, okay?
