What do you think about the current building system?

I do not see in the key bindings where to move an item Like I placed something on my ship by accident, now I cannot grab it nor move it. Did I over look something?

Right now you use the drill to salvage the base materials of the block.

After some time with the building system, here are my thoughts:
    - Moving blocks around felt rather sluggish and difficult to control; getting a large object to slot in exactly where you want is pretty tricky and the blocks don't always move where your mouse moves.
    - Speaking of block movement, right now the blocks move independently on the overall grid where your mouse looks, instead of snapping only to objects it can be built onto. For reference, in Minecraft and Space Engineers, your selection based on where your cursor is looking only goes to existing blocks or on parts of the grid where a block can be placed. When you can place blocks anywhere in empty space, it makes building a little bit of a challenge getting the blocks into spaces where you want to build them.
    - As of right now, the highlight system on the blocks you're placing could be a little better. All I'm really looking for, though, is that it highlights the model itself and not just the square space it occupies. This helps with ramps and making it easier to see what direction the block is facing; sometimes the blocks can blend together in your vision and that can make it a bit tricky knowing if it's facing the right direction or not.

Overall I'm happy with what I'm seeing, and yeah it's pre-alpha so I know it's going to feel rough around the edges. These are just the main things I feel should be addressed to make a snappy and polished build system.

Also, would it be possible to add more selections to block ramps, such as 2x1 ramps and such? That would be awesome.

I don't get the basics for building a base (make generators work etc) and building motherships (generators, how to set up gravity and lights)

I would like a way to rotate my building blocks. For example the Hull quarter round. I found rotate hotkeys in the options, but those are probably for a spaceship as they don't work for building. Or instead of Hotkeys make it at least depend on the direction you are faceing when placing the block.
Unless it's a bug that it doesn't work. In that case I would file a bug report.

Yes that would be awesome to be able to rotate stuff. Because right now, I hit ESC and build base and BOOM, just places it without letting me move it around or rotate it. Good call BlackStar.

The rotation keys for for base blocks as well, but not for placing down the base.

That is based on your camera angle

I'd really like an easier way to start building a mothership before you can get gravity up and running.

Perhaps a smaller gravity generator that can be self powered?

Also I can't seem to stand on one block and build on the sides of the block I'm standing on.

I'd like to see a standard nomenclature for components that are SV, GV and which ones are for CV, BA. I'm always rolling my mouse over different components with misleading names trying to find the ones for my base.

For example, I've noticed a 'Small Generator' that's for CV, BA but a 'Generator' for SV, GV. I would think that a Small Generator would go on a small ship or ground vehicle and a Generator (or Large Generator) goes in a Base or Capital Vehicle. If that makes sense.

Or are there different sized generators for each of the vehicle sizes (e.g. A small generator and a regular sized generator for SV, GV and the same for CV, BA but the CV, BA are larger than the SV, GV)?

Its very similar to the space engineers building format.

-block placing should have no delay

What i would love to see for creative is advanced build mode, from starmade

I just noticed I was looking at the wrong "rotating" keys, there are two for left and right and 6 for rotating blocks. Thanks :D

please, I wonder what kind of block I use to build the walls of my base. Every block that i encounter is a cube?

    Use windows.
    Or used the curved blocks.
    Or use the interior blocks.

The building system could use a few new settings so we can run a longer line of blocks out and so we can lay sheets of blocks.

Also the symmetry needs to be tweeked so it will run more than one plane at a time.
All three would be really nice.

Personally, I would like a way to conceal fuel cells, oxygen tanks etc within a ground vehicle/small vessel and not have them exposed on the surface. Space Engineers has a conveyor system, but I personally find that overly complicated.

I would personally just like to protect critical systems with armour and not have my oxygen supply sitting there waiting to get shot at. :)

    EDIT:

Also, unless I'm missing something, building on the underneath of ground vehicles is a nightmare. Currently, they spawn in with a cockpit, core block and 2 hull blocks. The only method I've found so far is to make a 'mast' and place critical components such as directional thrusters, power supply systems and a hover engine up there, just so I can get it off the ground and work on the underside.

At least with small vessels you do have the option to take them into space where you can more easily work on them.
