I finished my tank today. It's not the smoothest ride because of the shape but it's functional. I also went back and rebalanced all my other HVs to ensure they could handle rough terrain and right themselves if they flip over. So far so good.
I published The Big Pig to steam Find out what it's like to go to space INSIDE a pig! Now I'm going to drink and watch TV and ponder my next travesty of nature. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=789649885
What does a mad bio-scientist like yourself watch and drink, after publishing an abomination of nature to a Peer-Reviewed Journal?
I think I have some Black List and Blindspot episodes waiting and I think I have a double IPA in the fridge. Did you look at the interior pics of the The Big Pig? I was trying to make it half creepy biotech and half normal tech. I'm considering a true totally, unrecognizable as a space s hip, alien build, just wish I could import 3D meshes and textures
Blacklist and a Double IPA == Winning. I did! I've been playing around with using alien blocks as a cover skin, over a regular steel 'skeleton' for some ship designs for my upcoming RP server. They're gloriously 'moist' in the new lighting, but I wish you could hit them with the color beam. AFK, gotta post in the suggestions thread.
People get on my case for mentioning Second Life scripting, importing and building but if I had those tools.... my god, I'd make all sorts of gooey nasty alien stuff in meshes, import them, add my own textures and script them so they pulsated and moved. In SL I scripted sophisticated weapons for combat sims. With those tools you could have the innards move with proximity to players...and a whole host of other things that would really make things come alive. Can't wait till this game gets through beta and the modding community has at it! I want an extended scripting language in the worst way...then we'll see really alien looking ships! In my 'spare' time I'm trying to hack into the textures and find or write a tool I can use to add my own.
Yeah, SL is in many ways an entirely different beast. And a small team like this just can't "catch up" overnight. So, it'll be interesting to see how things develop. But we're still in alpha, and it'll be a long time before that level of mod tools are made available. Drink a nice IPA, and enjoy the ride.
A productive day was had at the Space Moles Fleet shipyards, both on planet and in space, first, we ratified the new designs for upgrades to our existing hover fleet, both the Ghost and the Cerberus gained new versions, with hardened steel armour, although this trades off manoeuvrability against staying power, the variants are there if you want them. We also started on the next design in the Barghest line, just some planning currently, watch this space for more news. Then, in space, more work was done on our upcoming hyper-cruise-liner, the Ophamiel, tidying up the bits of wrecked metal around the bridge area, putting in serious amounts of glass, planning structure and things. Still no pics, although you might spot some teasers below. So, to the main activity of the day, which was Typhon, our upcoming super-carrier. we roughed out the new comms centre and auxiliary bridge This is a-symmetrically placed on one side of the upper-rear of Typhon. Next is the new ventral manoeuvering thruster pod, I managed to catch our master builder checking things over. Up and to to the right of these thrusters, can be seen one of the two weapon pods. And finally, at the rear, the dorsal docking bay and rear engine cluster. So, the main structure is complete, the hangars are specified, but not complete, there's still a ton of tidying work, but we're getting there. Even with this amount of work ahead of us, other projects in the works, my master shipbuilder is still looking forward to the size limits for CV's being increased
And the Ark's interior, deck 4, above, is the through-deck hangar and launch bays. Deck 3 is habitation, and CIC. Deck 2 is the main airlock. Deck 1 is bridge, and Engineering access.
I've been updating a few of my older designs today as well as working on some new stuff. I've decided my concrete bunker series of bases will come equipped with turrets while I plan to make a couple very basic wooden starter bases with no turrets. I was thinking of not giving them a floor. They'd be very rough but the problem is if you don't put a floor then a lot of the time the doors get half buried when you place it so I used the thin blocks to put a layer on the bottom. Well the game treats them as full blocks when placing the structure so it ends up floating. SI is good....but you can walk under it. /facepalm
Discovered an amazing seed: 584881 Set about making the rear section into something of a base in preparation for Operation H.A.L.O. based on @Kieve story found here: http://empyriononline.com/threads/the-halo-gambit.7591/ I have been wanting to try this assault approach for some time. Tomorrow will be the day. The rear section makes one comfy, glowy base once you get set up: Sneaky sneaky My soon to be hovercraft and small vessel building area Since I usually prefer to build my own or take over a talon village/temple, this is actually the first time I have ever used one of the titan sections as a base. I now see why people enjoy them.
Although the Selene LXS is proving more popular on the Workshop than I expected, I actually consider her a bit of a disappointment - namely, in the luxury sense. As a personal vessel, she works great, but there's very little "swankiness" on-board. So I started work on something bigger and more ostentatious. Working title, Selene GLX. The GLX is still probably considered "small" by most CV standards, but she's still bigger than I'm used to working with. Still, there comes a time when one must step outside their comfort zone, I suppose.
Hey all of you amazing people who have contributed to this thread. It is now officially pinned in the general discussions section of the forums, instead of being a plain old regular thread. Just wanted to make sure people did not miss it. Also, three cheers for Slam Jones for creating it in the first place. It has been a lot of fun to post to!
I finished a room in the Contest Entry Base, then my damn Sleeping Problems overcame me till I couldn't focus or concentrate anymore & I ended up going to bed early. I hope I can even get this Base done in time for Contest Submission let alone if it'll even be any good... >_< Also during random spare time doing RL stuff to do sometimes, making preliminary plotting & scheming for a future Asymm HV. Beats actually concentrating on the boring mundane stuff to do, that's for sure.
