So I've created what can best be described as, well, akin to a motorcycle with a sidecar. Except instead of a seat, there's a gun. Will post more tomorrow when I'm not seconds from falling asleep
Cute little guy for something that will never survive a sneeze. It's a pity the Hover Force is Cheesing through those Landing Pads. On the other hand, I like the 'Sci-Fi Mad Max' Vibe this dude has.
was more about showing realworld assymetric designs i was instinctivly thinking about, with a little bit of a rant (pardon for that)
Not sure if this counts, but my Furetto Mk0 (as subsequently every vessel built off of it) is technically asymmetric. See for yourself: You'll notice that on the Starboard side (on the pilots right-hand-side when sitting in the seat) there is a fuel tank, while on the Port side are two RCS. The RCS weigh half of what the Fuel Tank does, and take up half as much room... ergo putting two together like that perfectly balances out the Fuel Tank on the other side. Not super interesting, I know, but something to consider when building an Asym Spoiler (And, for fun, the predecessor to the Mk0... see if you can spot all the changes )
I found out that a asymmetric hovervessel has a cool deacceleration if the center of mass is off because of it
So, here I have been lurking this thread a while now, and have thus decided to create an account simply to post here. I was trolling through the lovely little list of popular things on the workshop page a short while ago (before my interest was revived with Keive's Seraphim) and noticed that the current 'front page' item was rather amazing in many ways. Thus, with the readings of the thread, I have surmised that there is an overall lack of 'natural asymmetry' being produced. It is with this, that I share the thing that I am sure that many of us have seen today. The Mobile Combat Asteroid We need more structures and craft that look more 'natural,' so to speak. The world around us, and in EGS is not symmetrical (and much to the point of the thread, why should our crafts?) and therefore, I feel that having items that could blend in with the surroundings from afar would be both unique, and exciting to use (as the images above show). EDIT: During the time that it took from this post until this edit, I have decided to do as I said above and created something of my own. Some refinement is needed but it is a start. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=793789789
Vortex fighter. It does have a point-symmetry (i.e. 180° rotation symmetry) but at least it is not axially symmetric.
You need some form of weehlto let both sides spinn that would be hillarious XD It would be a true Puddeljumper
That is a great idea. Easily one of the coolest ideas I have seen yet. Natural camouflage; in the first image, I almost did not see it. Nicely done.
Nice attempt at a A-sym frigidman. I am a huge fan of your capital ship the "consequence," and I was hoping you would eventually make your way to this thread. and @Slam Jones you can do it! Build a giant, planet-busting, a-symmetrical HV.
I've got another on the building pad thats asym... but I've been having a hard time finishing the main cabin. Got side tracked doing some cityscape buildings and bug testing some annoying things
Here's an asymmetric CV, relatively small so it is viable for landing operations and dropping my hover tank on th surface. For now I decided to call the model "Crux", well, for obvious reasons. Too small for a frigate, so might class it as a corvette, or are there already semi-established classification labels based on the device count class? Anyway: The porch on the right is for parking SVs and the one on the left obviously holds the main gun. Interiors in the next post.
In order of appearance including the above: View from the upper bridge over the cockpit desk - view from the front over the upper deck - view from the front towards the lower/engine deck - engine seen from the centre - warp drive in the centre, seen from the hover tank hangar - the hangar. I haven't furnished most parts yet, as I figured I always had lots of useless intermediate materials lying around to make furnishings, so I did not include these when I built the thing in creative mode.
I just use my own, based not on Device Count, but on the point of why I made the Creation. Ones I use commonly in no particular order: "Hover War Tank", "Warrior", "Violent Support", "Transport", "Dogfighting CV", & "Mad Empyrion Science Experiment". For the Topic: My apologies at the delay in my next Entry... this Alien POI Contest Entry is brain meltingly hard to get done & I had no clue what kinda Boss Battle I was gonna be in for making it. Once it gets done I still wanna eventually make a Asymm HV, but with my brain getting as fatigued & melted as it is, I might have to settle for making a small humble one. >_<
Interesting design - I Like how you tucked the guns under/over the hanging blocks. I also really enjoy the interior - well used space for such narrow confines, yet it does not feel cramped.
Was waiting on posting the Nephilim here until I had the video done. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=799143132 Enjoy!
Been a while since I posted a design here, so.... Introducing, Serpent River. A smaller, a-symmetrical HV that is well armed, incredibly nimble, and very fast. Covers terrain with remarkable agility. Will also glide. Is the third tonight, am on a roll. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=802930329 Enjoy!
Hello everyone. Fractalite suggested that I post my ship here, being that it's an asymmetrical design and all. Anyways, here's a Steam Workshop link to the PIF-813 DEIMOS, the baddest ship this side of Empyrion Galaxy! It's a 97kt "IDGAF" to Eleon's weapons/devices limits! CLASS 6 WARFARE AT ITS FINEST. Thanks for checking out my ship, and don't forget to take a look at the SALES & INFORMATION GUIDE page!
