The Oxygen Generator also needs to be in the water to use as a source of oxygen...otherwise it doesn't work. Is the water the only source of oxygen around?
On Omicron yes, on the other planet types there are different areas where it works (I never was there but I think I found it in the wiki somewhere)
Well, on our moon, you can get it from the aluminum oxide in rocks. So, yeah, there are other chemical sources of oxygen than water.
It would be nice if the oxygen system was expanded, to that a base or a vessel could have rooms filled with air, Maybe that is possible but i have not found anything like that. I know that there is oxygen in the cockpit, but not it the base, and a little frustrating to fill your oxygen tank while you are indoor. But then you have to have things like airlocks to keep the air inside. Also the ability to expand your own oxygen tank would be nice
When you put Oxygen Bottles into the Oxygen Tanks on the Escape Pod, it works one of two ways. The cockpit is provided with oxygen, meaning while sitting in the cockpit, you will not lose Oxygen (as you are using the cockpit oxygen, not your suit). Also, if you approach the Oxygen Station, it totally drains an Oxygen Bottle to recharge your suit Oxygen while you are close.
I like the ideas of pressurizing BA and CV and having rooms with oxygen in them. That would be an awesome addition! Or cockpits on SV, GV being oxygenated as well, and pressurized.
AFAIK cockpits are oxygenated. You are using oxygen directly from Tanks (or the station?) while in them.
Short version: Great! Long version: It's really good, it does have a few things do. Again we have the fact that i would love to see some automation of the base inventory/crafting. Also the planet Omnicron seems to me like a breathable planet, i would like to be able to remove my helmet and just use the planets own oxygen (this might not be the case that the planet got breathable oxygen, but i would like the feature in).
I seem to have an issue getting oxygen outside of my GV (ground vehicle) I place the Oxygen tanks, Oxygen station, Fuel cell and oxygen bottles in the tanks just like on the crashed Escape pod, but am still not able to get oxygen if I stand close to the Oxygen station. It appears that if I am in the cockpit I don't lose oxygen, so that appears to work. Its just once I travel a fair distance and then get out to mine, I am not able to replenish the lost oxygen until I get back to the escape pod or a base.
I feel the oxygen system so far is good. i am not sure how it will go on extended trips from a base where you can generate the oxigen but you may want to think of a higher teir upgrade to the suit or some kinda of extra suit capacity tank to teke with you. do you plan on adding ship / station oxigen? pressurized enviorments? unless there is already in which case some kind of external enviornment indicator would be nice =D oh and maybe the ability to switch to external environments over your suit...no point using suit oxyigen if there is enough around u.
i have a feeling the oxigen station has a specific side u need to stand next to try rotating the bloxck a diffrent way and testing that out.
Not to mention that Omicron is inhabited by Triceratops and Spinosaurs, two creatures that inhabited the earth when the atmosphere had a much higher oxygen content than it does now.
Here's an idea for further down the line. Perhaps allow oxygen generators to be built on a base (so they can use base power) with the condition they are also in contact with an oxygen source, such as underwater.
