I built a hovering fork lift to assist in building an SV. It was loaded up with lights and had a massive amount of counterweight and thrust. Actually worked pretty well and was able to completely lift and move my small HV around. Then I decided to start a new survival game with a different strategy. As soon as I landed I started running west grabbing resources and food along the way in search of the Titan. Managed to find the tail section with a few hours of sunlight left. Outsmarted a few drones, then once inside, replaced the core with mine and had lights, power , and shelter by sunset, without having to mine a single resource.
You're telling me... took hours just to dig this cliff-side out. Currently working on digging out the actual hanger area behind it... EDIT: Where I"m standing in the last screenshot is basically where the hillside originally went out to.
Today we started playtesting our homeworld Talpidae. We're going to be creating a planet to be our home, and to be the inspiration behind our name. Talpidae will be the extremely dangerous, metal rich, dark, foggy world we moles yearn to escape from Obviously we have a lot to do, but I though we'd share a couple of in-progress shots. Also pictured are a couple of our work in progress civilian buildings, this time, habitation modules.
Haha, What's funny too is that my friend started helping me dig out the hanger area and says to me "You know what would have made this easier? If you just built it on the surface." "But then we wouldn't have a cool underground lair, duh."
F&F tool. Pull the terrain up over it when you're done building. Voila, mountain of rock. ... probably just as much work as digging though.
lol wouldn't lollook natural either. Its not just going to be the hanger and a room, but a series of tunnels with other rooms and towers coming up out of the ground. I wonder... Can I have a tower come up out of the bottom of the lake without flooding the base?
That also means the portion of the tower that's underwater will be flooded even with solid walls on all sides.
New CV-in-progress, the Carmine Vanquisher. There's a story behind this one, which I'll post in the RP section later on. Think you guys might get a kick out of it. As for the ship... this is just the right 1/4th or so. Think of a B-wing with a steroid addiction and severe attitude problems.
Funny you said this.. I browsed around at the workshop to find 14x14 little CV's. Found one. Spawned it aaaaaaaand it was 18x20 :/ Spawned another one. Bigger than advertised too! Busy tinkering with one until it fits. I'll start working on my own design. And yes: 1) should have sticked with the basic CV first approach. And not started building bases. 2) should have stayed with the CV landing platform BA instead of the airstrip 3) next time I build my hangars on top soil and fill em over if needed.
Just finished the 6th revision of my base complex. This base has a fairly big CV landing platform, an under ground SV hangar and an under ground HV garage. In fact, most of its facilities are under ground. It takes forever and a half to dig it out, but on the bright side, once you're done, you'll never again run out of crushed rock . http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=801440423 And to think, this thing began life as a Tier 1 starter base...
More progress on the Vanquisher. And, for those interested, the first part of the backstory has been posted here.
