So I was looking at this freighter CV I've been building and I got to thinking. I said "Self, this could be a piece of something much larger". And then I said screw it. The new mergestructs command doesn't work on ships and the Space Moles already built the Abaddon which far outclasses anything I'd do with this hull. Besides, if I make it too large I won't be able to land it on planets. I'm pleased with how it's turning out though. Got an idea for my next ship while working on this one.
Attempted to start my very first serious game. Dug myself into a hole to get a resource and ran out of biofuel while trying to dig myself out...
Ohhh Man! I was hoping our work would encourage more big builds, not scare peeps off!! Still, when you say things like that though it does drive workshop visits.... silver lining? Cheers for the praise dude, and don't stop thinking about large ships! (I'd be happy to lend a hand...)
Today i fucked around with the available assets in game to fuck up the physics engine and what can i say i succedded in it. I have build a cv that can basically power you up to 1100 m/s thought about not posting it though because the devs will se it as an exploit but it is just funny
4000 blocks here, 4000 blocks there, 22,000 blocks up der, and 3.472 million blocks just over here, 64 doors, three hundred and seventy eight lights later, 742 containers, 3.6 klm squared of surface painting, dreams of blocks in the night, COFFEE , lol , more coffee , lol lol , a hanger bay large enough to house Artusis's Venator class ship with room to do a U turn inside, then I went to bed, more dreams of blocks in the night......
Piddle are you trying to tell us something about an update coming ? Could you imagine if the size limit on this game was 4,000 blocks on each side of the core???? I would start a ship that would take me a year to finish. I doubt I would have time to play the rest of the game lol
I wanna dare to try to build as big as ya someday, i'm just waiting for 2 things mainly: 1: For the game's Development Speed to get fleshed out enough to stop being so breakneck fast that I can't build something that big without it going obsolete long before it ever gets done, & 2: For me to have the actual time for it. Oh wait, my bad, 3 things... 3: The end of the Band Aid Fix Weapon Max Limit Cap. I also 4thly was waiting on CV Armored Thruster equivalents of the Xtra Large Thrusters too before, but this Objective's been met now! Woot! (Inset beats sticking out & extra easy to shoot any day in my Shamelessly Biased Opinion!) I can understand that. A little Competition can help stimulate the creativity, provide inspiration, & if ya triumph over that Competition, the sweet sweet taste of Victory... a taste that would be awfully flat & hollow if ya triumphed over absolutely nothing at all whatsoever for Competition. With all due respect ya really should Report this to the Devs for Fixing... :/
On the one hand yes on the other hand it just powers up the player to that speed so no vihicle or something and it is ressource intensive af, so no that gamebreaking imho. It is just an exploit to do funny things. However as i am not an absolutly beeing i will just send the bp link to you so you can judge yourself and communicate with the defs if you think it is needed.
Trying a new approach to building. Since I kinda sorta had a... impression of what I wanted to do, I thought I would start with a large block, and carve out what I wanted: Although I must put the design on hold to do some work, it is proving to be a really interesting experience.
Paint and texture, texture and paint...this would go so much faster if the symmetry tool applied. /paint paint paint paint texture paint texture texture paint paint paint
Agreed. Or if bulk paintings (and building) was available. When i eventually get back into building (currently playing Skyrim with the intention of completing every non-radiant quest that isn't faction locked) I'm going to have to spend 3 or 4 hours painting my Cube ship. once I actually finish the exterior. And then the inside will have to be done and some of the existing stuff will have to be scrapped and rebuilt, because new blocks. And I'm resigned to my Megahull being broken as it is, so I'm gong to have to rebuild that...the initial hull took 6 hours to build, even with the symmetry tool.
I have done that too, except I read that you get a jetpack so I tried that out. Press J to activate it, and spacebar to go up and then just pressed W when I was out of the hole. Overall, I thought I was dead but it was fun. Now I will try to dig straight down so my flight up is nice and easy. I like easy.
I tried using the jetpack. But the hole I was in was so deep that I couldn't make it even halfway out. I should've followed the advice I learned from Minecraft... "never dig straight down"...
Let a design get away from me.... Not sure what this is, it might even turn out decent... but it kind of went... bleh... Not even sure if I want to finish. I think I have a better idea. Plus, I need to go back to smaller HV's.
Between the size and the "rocky" look around the cockpit, I can't help thinking you should finish it up as a mobile mountain and call it the Avalanche. As for me... the Vanquisher is still on ice awaiting upload, but I'd intended to give it a small companion CV - not a boarding dropship or anything, but more like the Captain's private shuttle / vehicle. I finally managed to hit a design I was happy with. The Mercury CVR is styled as a high-end sports car, with specs to match. You won't be taking down any POIs in this thing, but it's zippy as hell.
Oooo good to know that I need to watch for that as well. I did change the way I dig though. I now use the flattening tool to level it out so I don't get deep holes. Then I drill a hole about 6' deep and then clear as much as I am comfortable with and to expand the exit so I can leave, then use the flattening tool again to level it all out. I prefer to use the drill though since it is easier (as far as I can tell) to make fuel for. Sometimes I still go too deep and need the jetpack to get out, so will try to tier the exit enough for it. Thanks!
