I know how ya feel. I'm not afraid to Experiment, but one bugger about Experiments is that some of them fail. I like to make my Hole into Ore Veins diagonal.
I finished the ship I was working on. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=808592043 Spoiler And a pic of what my shipyard looks like at the moment. Spoiler
I can imagine the hilarity if a Band of Pirates tried to sack that Freighter then found out the hard way that Freighter's 'Cargo' was an army of powerful SV Fighters, all crewed by Skilled Pilots. Can you say "Wasp Nest"?
Repainted the Spire (and fixed the lighting, finally). Just finished updating it on the Workshop, so that it reflects all the changes 4.0+ made. Not terrible, but god fluffin' dammit, I want my gold back. One stinkin' texture adjustment is all it would take, I swear. God this pisses me off.
I started off by converting the hull of the Atmora (my basic starter CV) to hardened steel. I gave up after about a minute... I'll tackle that some other day maybe. Instead, I verified I pulled everything out of the shipyard and loaded it. Next I tested whether the Atmora had the engine power to hover over Omicron... and it does! So I added landing gear and parked by my base... as close as I could, considering my foxhole was under a mountain, dang it. Anyways, I spent the rest of my time pulling up stakes on Omicron. I didn't really figure it would take so long...where did I get so much stuff? Ah well. Jammed my ship's cargo capacity to the brim, found a corner to drop more cargo boxes, jammed those too. Then I flew around collecting my auto miners. At last I'm ready to go ....... and I remember I need the blue crystal whatzits to do warp. So my last act on Omicron was to go swimming for blue crystals. After all that x I warped to Akua! Parked in orbit, that's all I had time for today.
Introducing, Hecate. Designed to be a nice mid/late survival game assault hovercraft. Is all hardened steel, plenty of storage, really fast, and possesses bruising firepower - 4 homing rocket, 2 plasma, and 1 artillery turret(s.) Named after an ancient goddess and is pronounced "HehKahTee." Naturally solid camouflage on the planet Ningues. Not for pvp. Steam Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=809242685 Enjoy!
I started working on something today that may end up being kinda cool if I can get it to work. Industrial theme(you know me, I like my ships dirty). It's a smaller CV with a deployable SV and hopefully some deployable HV turrets if I can fit them in. They're kind of a last minute addition. We'll see. So far it's shaping up pretty well. Got most of the CV's structure worked out externally although I'll have to dirty it up some more later. Working on the SV now which is proving to be more challenging. When this is done I think I might even have something for Fractal's asymmetrical thread. Edit: Augh! My comp crashed when I quit the game and now my save isn't showing up. Thankfully I'm obsessive about blueprinting everything. I only lost the HV I was working on. RIP Area 54.
Wow .. I'm really liking this design. I could see something like this being in a Halo game. Very cool!!!
@Fractalite I was messing around and gave your Micro HV a little rebuild(love this little guy). Made a few changes to the front end, the stuff behind the cockpit, and all the internals. It has a few less thrusters and rcs(but no real loss of speed or agility), one less fridge, couple less cargo boxes but I added another ammo box and moved the constructor so it's internal now. Couple less minigun turrets but picked up a rocket turret. Made a slight change to the back end too. @vicomt @oojimaflip So I was looking at your Barghest Mk1 HV(a most excellent design btw). It's missing some paint in a couple places. The underside of the right front foot is missing some black paint in a couple spots, underneath the right front shoulder where the cylinder attaches to the main body of the hull, and under the left front shoulder there's 3 or 4 spots missing black paint.
Cheers Old Bean! I'll look into fixing those tonight! Barghest didn't actually turn out the way I was expecting it to, don't get me wrong; I'm happy enough for it to be on the workshop, after all, some people like the stuff I find hideous! There are a lot of our designs that really would benefit from a makeover now that we have extra blocks... a bigger Barg may come along soon!
I really like the whole idea of a mobile turret on legs. I'm trying to come up with something like a smaller version of the Barghest to use with the CV I'm building.
Me and the Bro watch a lot of Anime... so it just seemed pretty natural for a mobile Artillery Platform, I just wish it looked a bit less like a deranged puppy! If you manage to come up with something smaller, that looks more like a mech, then I'd love to see it, I'd be very jealous mind, as I believe I failed in my initial attempt. There's always the second go though....
It may intrigue you to know there is a 'Mech called the Barghest. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Barghest Personally I like your Barg the way it is I'll be honest, I was never much a fan of the BTech quad-legged 'Mechs.
I loved the Battletech stuff as well, but didn't get into the ground vehicles side of it. It's a MASSIVE coincidence, as we just pulled the name Barghest from a list of legendary dogs we found via uncle google. (from northern english folklore fyi) The problem with a trans-literation of something like that into the Empyrion engine is the shapes and joints. we agonised over the barghest and still are not particularly happy with it. Just like we're probably going to agonise over it's successor.
Finally got round to starting my space base! Messing around trying to make sure everywhere has the correct amount of gravity is a bit of a pain! I've also been furnishing the inside of my CV, but there's still empty rooms that I need to work on. The last image is where I've got so far with the base, not how it's going to look finished.
Thank you banksman! Hecate turned out a little bigger, but ultimately better than I expected. I still might tweak its thruster arrangement though - I have very very exacting standards when it comes to agility and speed for my HV's. I even set up a a few obstacle courses on the creative Akua planet that vary depending on the weight of the hovercraft involved, and Hecate can make it through the 45 - 65 ton course, but not quite with the flying colors I like. Siege, you are awesome. Awesome awesome awesome. I have to wait a few hours to look at that beauty, but I am very eager to do so. Also - feel free to upload that to the workshop if you want. While I do not want anyone to subvert or steal my designs, variations and/or improvements are exciting, and I like what you did. Trimmed it down, made it sleeker/more compact. Beautiful!
When you don't see a second Enemy base but its sees you. lol Is it just me or has the enemy bases gotten stronger? Seems like it takes more shots to take outs turrets .
I'm glad you like the changes. This is your baby though. I'll let you decide if you want to upload it to your workshop. Edit: I had another fit of inspiration. Mk2 version incoming. This thing will damn near fly now. I've come up with....a foot. So far. Leg isn't quite working out yet. It would be fine if I didn't want to angle it up/down at all. But I know the pieces I need to work with. It's just a matter of assembling them in the right configuration. Foot I came up with and the mangled looking leg I'm working on. Spoiler Mini Barghest. Apologies for mangling your design. Spoiler
