Finished and uploaded my collection today. I am tired of editing and uploading pics now. Taking a break from shipbuilding tonight. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=813648482
Am I going to far? My small base with giant ship pad is suddenly turning into a small city! Not bad considering at the moment I'm the only one who plays on my friend's MP server! It's rough around the edges still (as is my CV!), but that's because as soon as I think I'm getting somewhere, I add more to it! It's even bigger than my CV and I consider that overkill for my needs!
If the devs would kindly let us see the gravity generators range or make it so multiple generators don't increase the overall gravity, I would be having an easier time, that's for sure! *nudge nudge wink wink*.
As I'm texturing and painting the inside of my ship, I'm finding I'm getting very familiar with certain frustrations. The textures that could work as interior ship bulkheads for walls always look too greebly to use for every inch of wallspace. And the only one that looks like a basic flat bulkhead looks very beat up, which is sad. Also I don't mind the flat colors themselves but wish at least some of the options used color applied as accent colors, instead of ... you know, it's a basic wall and then right in the middle of it is a huge slab of very, very, very RED wall. I find myself falling back to the same basic set of interior decor I've used every ship I've this far in the building process. Relying quite heavily on those scant few textures which aren't a painful eyesore when side by side 90 degrees to each other.. All this to say, I worked on my ship interior today.
Introducing, Heavenly Pyramid. Another in my line-up of creative exercises that could be used as sweet assault HV's, but I am not sure how to arm them. Has decent acceleration, but a top speed of 18 m/s? Not sure why that is. The very bottoms of the lowest tiers of triangle platforms are not finished yet as I am not sure if I want to keep the thrusters there, and it can *technically* turn, its just not gonna wow the ladies. Steam Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=813731906 Do enjoy, and outfit it if you can. Here it is next to my cluttered work space, looks neat in the distance:
I include a link to my workshop in my signature. Everything is uploaded except a all-steel variant of the mobile defense turret. --- even the smiley-faced death machine.
I got done painting/texturing, I fished the shuttle that fits with it, I had my "OMG I FORGOT THE _______" moments, I think this ship is done. Now in production - the Cougar class destroyer, Imperial Navy. @Fractalite , i can't upload to the workshop since I don't have a home internet connection, but will uploading the epb files do? They were in sub folders by the same name as the file if that makes any difference. Also uploaded the shuttle that goes with it. Critique welcome..... this is only the 5th CV project I've finished... P.s. fractalite? The SV next to your creative HV collection? That thing amazing. O.O
Ate a bad corn dog and got sick, made a seaweed wrap to fix that, made some bandages, killed a night raptor that chased me through the dark, created a water generator and tier 2 constructor, generator and fuel station, and then did some mining. Just started a new world so trying to survive.
Yeah, the blueprint files will work. I will take a peak tonight. "P.s. fractalite? The SV next to your creative HV collection? That thing amazing. O.O" - Ha! It is not mine! Is that not an amazing vessel? That is the ZeroG ship Torment: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=806456717 For a gifted designer, Jenniphurr outdid herself on that one. It inspired my HV Omega: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=807169944 When you get a chance to get it off the workshop, it is a lesson in ship design(although NOT function) kind of, in and of itself. I wonder if she offers classes?
You know, sometimes I amaze myself. So while building space city and utterly failing to find the different looking lights for the interior, I've been sticking with just the one type of light. Imagine my surprise when I right clicked by accident and *BAM* all the different types of light appear on my screen. One session of beating my head against my desk later, I decide to down some beer and carry on. After dragging out line after line of steel blocks for the floors and such, I wonder to myself "The dev's can't have left this as the only way to build things". So after holding ctrl and clicking to place the blocks, it turns out you can instantly make MASSIVE sections of floor and walls. I'm expecting an onslaught of "OMG how did you not know this?", however it goes to show that you really do learn something new everyday and maybe not everyone reads everything about a game! I'm going to carry on beating my head against my desk now...
What? How long ago was that added? Seriously, I've been building massive CVs line by line forever, not knowing that this option existed
Oh dear... it's been in since I've been playing O.O Well, at least your work in the future will be quicker now!!
Indeed. This thing was built line by line and before I knew how to use the symmetry tool as well Spoiler Spoiler
WOW just makes it that much more impressive! Heck, if you got that kinda patience, you should able to make some excellent stuff now that you know a few extra tricks!
I still have my Cube ship to finish. Unfortunately the bulk of it is done and it's just painting/detailing and interior sections left to do.
Plus there are now a wider choice of engines and blocks to do things with, so i may end up scrapping parts of it. I really need to get into the habit of blueprinting the basic hulls before I start doing stuff to them. Honestly, I may just start again, now I know that I can build walls and floors a lot easier.
@Wild_XIII , thank you for that .... just the other day I was really wishing for that ability and never knew I had it. Also, don't feel bad. Today I learned that lights can be toggled with L. After wondering about an hour how it was that my lights were no longer working after I reloaded the savegame.
