Took some time off from Space City (because I really don't know what direction to take it now!) and got to work tidying up my mighty CV, Guardian. Now sporting a paintjob which may or may not have been inspired by a Dodge Viper. :p It's now also had a crap load of turrets and such added for more offense!

I've also put together another little SV, more as a SHTF get out quick kind of ship. Flies rapidly in a straight line, but turning isn't amazing and stopping is sluggish!

I'm attempting to protect my core but make it look nice at the same time. I guess I will find out in battle how protected it is. lol Screenshot (184).png Screenshot (185).png Screenshot (186).png

So, today, I finally got around to building a dropship I have had in mind for some time now. Much as with the theme of the Hssiss Confederation that I utilize, this ship sports heavy armor and lower maneuverability (though, this has even lower maneuverability than previous installations of vessels). It is my pleasure to introduce the Basilisk, a troop transport that has an occupancy of ten with compartmentalized pods for each occupant (in order to help protect all other occupants in case of attack).

    =======================================================================================

The HC-49 Basilisk, also known as the Tortoise by Terran Resistance members, is an oddity within the Confederation's ship-based arsenal. Utilizing heavy armor, individualized transportation pods, and interlinked Spatial Distortion Engines; the Basilisk is capable of inserting troops into a hostile area and pulling out with relative ease. The pilot has a seperate, pressurized safety pod that can be used as a lifeboat or, in extreme circumstances, cover to fight behind. There is sufficient capacity for ten occupants, outside of the pilot, with each pod carrying personalized storage and life support.

With the conflict between the Terrans and the Confederation escalating, recent revisions to the design of the Basilisk changed its offensive loadout. Sporting twin Purple Goddess Pulse Lasers, and a heavy missile compliment, the Basilisk has left a swathe of destruction in its wake.

There is a fundamental drawback to the Basilisk's size and armament, though. It has a vastly lower maneuverability rate than the fighters and bombers that the Confederation often sports in combat scenarios. Favoring heavy armor and rapid insertion of units over combat maneuverability leaves it vulnerable to strike craft, often forcing the Basilisk to rely on a fighter sweep from support craft.

    Introducing, Silence.

Probably the best HV I have ever made. Certainly the sexiest. Silence is a cheap, ultra quick, highly agile, heavily armed, level 15 survival Killing machine.

I spent a few days on the detailing, spent some time wrestling about the importance of mini-guns. Then with first hand usage of my HV Hecate in survival, decided that 2 would be enough to start with. I combined knowledge I have gleaned from my own experimentation and successful designs along with insight from @Vexray @Jenniphurr and @Kieve .

Best seen at night and when listening to:
    - listen to the whole thing or start it around 27:10.

Does not possess Hardened steel on most of the ship as I was not sure what kind of situation Silence would be needed and since I really wanted to make it highly accessible, opted not to. Friendly pointer for you - the whole ship does not need to be converted to Hardened Steel for survival, only the front bits and the aspects around the guns.

Looks awesome, but I'm not sure what 'insight' I may have contributed to such a beast? Unless you mean my penchant for making wall edges glow?

EdgeGlow.jpg Honestly, I think the one with double-bars on the end works best for that sort of thing. If you use the three-column glow, it cuts off one side, and that side changes depending on how your block is oriented.
EdgeGlow2.jpg Drives the perfectionist in me bonkers.

& makes me, in turn, want to be able to Rotate Textures on a Block Face just like ya can with Symbols SO much...

I'd love that as well, however in data terms, that an extra INT (or whatever FLOATs your boat) for each face for each block in the structure. might not seem much, but it all adds up, especially on larger builds. The Dev's have to balance the requirement for this sort of functionality against the increase in memory use and slowdown in processing.

Incorrect. Texture rotation would need to be in one of four orientations, same as symbols.
    ‪― ↑
    ←█→
    ― ‪‪↓
With many textures, there would be little or no difference in a 180° rotation, but there are a few where it would matter (second row of steel textures: glowing braces, two different panel textures, techy columns, pipelines).

Well, a single byte would cover it, and if they did it right, they could combine the texture id and rotation in the same byte they use now (if they have a limited set of textures like we do) (like no more than 64 textures). Otherwise, it will spread into two bytes, and all bets are off on saving space.

Both wrong it would need at least a char. However using a char for saving this is mostly not used therefor a short is mostlikly, even if these are still bigger than needed. so 2 booleans would be a possibility too ...

Today i did in empyrion ... nothing. For real at the moment i am really out of stuff to do and i am uninspired to create something and yeah burned up maybe?

So last night we chucked together something for a client...

Fresh off the Moelwerks Production line, we give you...

A CV designed solely for "Obliterating POIs", no warp core and quite limited fuel storage means that Gorbel prefers to stay planetside, butt-parking when tired. Point it in the general vicinity of a POI though and things start to get interesting!

Hope you have as much fun with this as the test-pilot did!
Comments and suggestions welcome, as ever. :)
