Looks good to me as-is, but if you're wanting to try a little extra color for spice, try painting the tops of your wall pieces with an accent color (maybe the medium-brown or dark gray, not sure).
Blueprint Sorcery & Marine Creatures! Short story: we squashed a CV and made an SV, quite liked it, so we finished it! go try it (please)
Introducing, Mr. Drilly. A fine upstanding gentleman that happens along at the perfect time for your drilling needs. Is cheap, tilts downwards comfortabley, and maneuvers in the excavated pocket quite well. This is my first attempt at a drilling vessel. Rather than spacing out the drill devices I decided to focus them into the front of the vessel - it seems to function more effectively also allows for a smaller more manageable ship. The name is a fun tip of the cap to a fellow designer Siege Inc. and his hilarious "Mr. Pinchy." The original design I set out to make(and still might return to) was a tiny cone with drill heads spaced out according to something along the lines of the golden ratio. Then I thought about merging the idea into something along the lines of a deep-sea explorer. The result is Mr. Drilly. Steam Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=822398764 Enjoy!
Nice design! I've tried a couple of drill hovercraft with far less success. If you had published this one day sooner then I would have used it to dig the 200+ meter tunnel with which I just undermined a Drone Base.
Today I checked out the 5.0 enemy AI with an old aiming exploit. Found out that the exploit still works on drones, bases, not so much.
Fixed. Gotta be careful with that Punctuation or Miscommunication can result... that kinda stuff can start Wars, though on PvP Servers that can lead to loads of fun. RL, not so much. Edit: Tyrax Grey Mole done! Spoiler: Not as epic as i'd hoped she'd be, but she's a start. My Mad Empyrion Science Experiment this go was attempting to make my fav SV Cockpit work for a Mining HV! Front View: Yeah I keep recommending wider & not overtall, but I was trying to figure out how to make this Cockpit work, & then so this kinda happened... would REALLY help if the Max Drill Count had been set to at least 8, then coulda tried 2 lengthwise rows of 4 Drills instead. This Cockpit can't pull off an odd numbered row the way it's designed. Right Side View: Lower Drill not quite pointed straight cause I had done some usage of it during HV Final Testing. Rear View: Probably not my best Texturing work, but options that work on sides of a half size side of a Block are woefully lacking. Left Side View: Same as Right Side View Pic, except even more so. Top View: GMT Pride in full view! Bottom View: Dunno if the Hover Force was overdone a bit, but I prefer to risk a little too much rather then a little too little. Final Results in from her hard testing: She performs decent. I wanted better, but when does the first version of ANYTHING I build ever work epicly? She works both solo driven & Co-op Operated, but she'll shine most Co-op Operated methinks. & yes, ya saw right, I DID put WEAPONS onto a Mining HV. This puppy may well serve the GMTs in PvP Playfield use after all. I'm a bit disappointed in how the Drill Formation worked... looks like that kinda strategy is functional to an extent, but not as effective as i'd hoped it would be. Sadly, my fav SV Cockpit may not be a suitable Mining HV Cockpit for a non-Micro HV. Was worth a try, figured a Mining HV would be the first time there'd be a real good use for that good ol' Bottom Windowing in a HV Application. So much for that. But knowing me, I may well try again someday, maybe if the Mining HV Drill Max Count of only 6 ever gets raised or lifted.
I'd be really nervous of that too if I was doing it on a Planet. I prefer doing that in Space. P.S. My Post above received an Edit.
Frac....i just finished a CV that wont turn......now i gotta add more RCS and thrust!!! Two more T2 Rcs fixed it, but I am unsure about using turrets for landing gear...????
Turrets have something like 3k hp each? The trick is that on planets that have the PVP in red when you open up the map screen have collision enabled - at least for most blocks. So if you land on a planet under those circumstances the turrets will take damage if you scrape along the ground and on the landing itself. So just be extra cautious. I am also not sure if they can rotate... but still, be cautious.
The first logical step(phase 1,) a direct re-sizing, complete; had to see if it would work without tweaking. It definitely needs tweaking. Now on to phase two tomorrow.
Not so bad, 'cept for the cockpit. Switch to angled windows instead of round and it'll look badass I'm sure
Made a couple mining HVs today. One was a fancy schmancy thing made to look like a piece of heavy equipment. The other is a simple looking tunnel boring machine.
I decided to tweak the freighters I built to make them "legal" - player cores, cannon turrets, gutted the alien sentries, etc. You can find both of them here, if you like: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=822572782
Ha! What are you talking about???? Bulbous is not sexy??? It was fun, when I was finished stitching it together, I flew out to get some perspective and, well, kind of wanted to avert my eyes from the screen upon seeing that glass housing. I then reflected how little I actually like the shape of the similarly designed cockpit for HV's - the only reason I use it is the same as the thinner long cockpit - the visibility is wonderful. Also, nice work on these freighters. This explains why you have not been posting things of your own - this and the settlement stuff. I am eager to pop them into creative and take a look.
