Introducing, Silence. Probably the best HV I have ever made. Certainly the sexiest. Silence is a cheap, ultra quick, highly agile, heavily armed, level 15 survival Killing machine. I spent a few days on the detailing, spent some time wrestling about the importance of mini-guns. Then with first hand usage of my HV Hecate in survival, decided that 2 would be enough to start with. I combined knowledge I have gleaned from my own experimentation and successful designs along with insight from @Vexray @Jenniphurr and @Kieve . Best seen at night and when listening to: - listen to the whole thing or start it around 27:10. Does not possess Hardened steel on most of the ship as I was not sure what kind of situation Silence would be needed and since I really wanted to make it highly accessible, opted not to. Friendly pointer for you - the whole ship does not need to be converted to Hardened Steel for survival, only the front bits and the aspects around the guns. Prototype GD1 Such fun I can't even find the time to write a proper post. YOU'LL NEVER GET ME OUT OF THIS HOLE! [edit - Only works in Experimental 5.0 ]
Introducing, Mr. Drilly. A fine upstanding gentleman that happens along at the perfect time for your drilling needs. Is cheap, tilts downwards comfortabley, and maneuvers in the excavated pocket quite well. This is my first attempt at a drilling vessel. Rather than spacing out the drill devices I decided to focus them into the front of the vessel - it seems to function more effectively also allows for a smaller more manageable ship. The name is a fun tip of the cap to a fellow designer Siege Inc. and his hilarious "Mr. Pinchy." The original design I set out to make(and still might return to) was a tiny cone with drill heads spaced out according to something along the lines of the golden ratio. Then I thought about merging the idea into something along the lines of a deep-sea explorer. The result is Mr. Drilly. My first attempt at a mining HV using the new mechanics: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=822490106 My second entry: The Grub Tunnel Boring Machine: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=822524256
Don't care how (well/badly) these perform, they look floofin' awesomesauce! I wish my first attempts at mining HVs were that good!
I had to come wandering back to have a look at 5.0... This is heavily influenced by the new Tier 5a HV so thanks to Frigidman/Nosture/Whoever made that one: The drilling mechanics are a bit finicky for me, plus new, so I've no idea just how effective this is once you learn to drive it. I've dug some very steep tunnels but been unable to get back out without trying to turn around and dig back up again, but I don't know how much of that is down to my complete n00bish driving! Any feedback from people who've been mining with HVs for a while would be greatly appreciated so I can refine it or make a better one next time. Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
Looks like you need some extra forward pointing M thrusters for it. So you can back-out better (get up a slope). Looks a bit heavy, and may be fighting you... since you have more thrust going out the rear, you can get back out that way. That may be the only issue you might have in that build tbh.

Small, yet beefy machine for clear-cutting the wildlife in the way of progress. Booster & rear light are left off for cost. 'Supports' are Docking feet. Add lights as needed. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=823163581
My first attempt at making something that doesn't look like a box: Apologies for the large image amount, I won't be posting like this all the time. Introducing: The "Neon" Series I wanted to create a modular vehicle which would have function over form while maintaining some sort of a style, so I just slapped all the necessary equipment on the core and just went from there. These are heavily inspired by the "Tron" Hoverbike by Fractalite and garnished with my lack of sense and style. All vehicles* come with a Constructor, Cargo Box, Ammo Box, Fridge and O2 station/tank and require level 5 for non miners and 10 for miners. Equipment is protected (apart from the Scout) and easily accessible from the back or the sides (Ammo box is hidden on all vehicles and has to be accessed via the menu). (*Molerat doesn't have an ammo box as it is designed to be a strip- miner for building bases, but there are some spare blocks which can be changed out) So, here goes nothing... The Neon Scout Barebones build for minimal investment - the required minerals can be dug out with a shovel. Has all the necessary equipment for exploring with minimum protection. Neon One This is the HV which I was looking for. Cheap, fast and agile with potential for upgrades if necessary. Requires level 5 to build and next to no materials. Has all the equipment necessary for a lengthy trip and empty slots in the front in case one might have an inclination to put some gatling guns in there. One's Big Brother - Turret Base (yeah, I know, I have no imagination for names) Essentially, this is the same vehicle as One, only difference being slight changes to the area above the cockpit which have been made to accommodate a turret of your liking. Specialised units: Tank Light assault unit for combat support. Neon Series was never intended to be a base-buster, more like a lightweight all-rounder. Nevertheless, this puppy boasts armour all round with extra plates protecting all equipment from front, back and sides. With addition of two Gatling guns and a rocket turret (or another Gatling if you like them as much as I do) - it packs a punch! Not the knock-out uppercut, but a painful one none-the-less. Harvester Do you like chopping trees? What about gunning down some alien wildlife? And how about both while riding sideways in style? Then look no further! This modification of the original One has you covered. Harvester has all the equipment of the original One, with slight modifications to the location of reverse thrusters due to the harvesting module being in the front. Chop chop! Miner Well this is an odd one. I wanted to include the new mining drills into the mix seeing that "Neon" is a modular series but to be honest it's not that good as a miner. It is still fast and agile as all the other Neons and has the optional turret on top, but it's only good for the occasional dab into the mining industry. It can dig a hole and with additional reverse thrusters get itself out of it but not much more. (Miner has a separate group for frontal hover engines to make digging a hole easier) If you want some serious mining done - I present you... The Mole-rat While not exactly being based on the "One", the Mole-rat shares the same base and equipment with its siblings. It has additional reverse, side and pitch thrusters for maneuverability as this baby can dig a hole large enough to get lost in it. Being a small mining machine it is more suitable for occasional mining of minerals or doing some digging the underground bases. It has a space for a turret for protection but I have left it out because it would increase the profile of the machine. Additionally it has 2 boxes for all the sweet sweet minerals. That is all for the Neon series this time, apologies for any typos or bad attempt at humour.

I did small experiment with short, wide and heavily armed drill HV. Here are the results. I found this design quite stable during the mining. With this HV I managed to drain 4.5k iron ore vein in 10 minutes withut getting flipped or stuck... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827531765 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827531765 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827531765 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=827531765

I build this Miners for use on server I currently play. HV-Miner-M -------------------------------------- My first Miner. More suitable for digging tunnels than to mine meteorites. It has: - 2 Miniguns (useful against drones and animals) - 4 Rocket turrets (useful against players) - 6 Drill Modules - 1 Mobile Constructor Overall it is stable and easy to control. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=838916713 HV-Miner-M2 -------------------------------------- Dedicated meteorites miner. It has: - 2 Miniguns (useful against drones and animals) - 4 Rocket turrets (useful against players) - 6 Drill Modules Compared to HV-Miner-M: - Mobile constructor removed - Larger size - It can mine meteorite faster and completely without Crushed Stones. But still, it is stable and easy to control. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=838936056 HV-Miner-M3 -------------------------------------- Dedicated meteorites miner. Smaller than previous version M2. It has: - 2 Miniguns (useful against drones and animals) - 4 Rocket turrets (useful against players) - 6 Drill Modules It is stable and easy to control. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=838962436
I see shiploads of mining vehicles in development and certainly did my version of it as well, but let's start with something completely different. I got the request to make NSDF "Grizzly" main battle tank from 90's game "Battlezone" and to my great surprise the hover version turned out just fine, so I'm not even going to publish the SV version. So here goes: NSDF M60A7 MBT "Grizzly" It has artillery turret to act as a main cannon and to be faithful to original design the only other weapon is gatling cannon. (There's no mines that I know of in Empyrion so no Thumper for you!) And it's made from reinforced steel with cockpit completely inside the frame (entrance is on the right hand side of the tank) so it should be able to actually tank some as well. Here's my take on the start-up mining vehicle. Tried to make it as small as possible on both resource cost and tunneling profile vise. so it's more or less stable and you can build it with nothing but starting materials. Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=840129034
And on the other end of the spectrum, this is prolly one of the most insane projects I've ever done. There was talk on other thread that we need something that can mow very large areas in relative ease so I did try my hand on making something. As inspiration I searched pictures of large mining machinery and tried to combine them with "sand steamer" from trigun and then went completely overboard and mixed up some 16th century galleon in the mix as well So here's something that is mixture of a battleship on land and huge bulldozer. I like to shorten all of that into "Behemoth" (Oh and it was originally yellow like all mining machinery, but I kind of thought that not everyone might like yellow, so now it doesn't have paint at all Introducing: Legacy Industries The MX I 1337 Behemoth harvester Run forest, run! Lucky for you trees don't have legs and can't! Do you know why Omicron doesn't have forests? Because we field tested this in there! Ever wanted not to only watch as world burns, but to burn it yourself? If yes, then we have an answer for you! Our environment department made us give up on developing global scale flamethrowers, so we will give you the next best thing. This supermassive harvester unit is fully capable of annihilating mightiest trees, shrubberies, ore deposits and local lifeforms as well. Strip away anything valuable and leave nothing but ashes and a lifeless ball of dust behind! Now available for lunatics everywhere! Check your local Legacy dealer! Main Features: Too many turrets to ever get it to live servers without removing turret count restrictions first Doesn't turn, at all. Luckily it doesn't have to, since you can dig through the terrain, cut through the forests and shoot anything else! It moves! You can dock it! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=842728908 A hover-engine version of my space Ferrari. Goes fast, handles great, looks awesome, plus it has plenty of trunk space for your luggage. ═════════════ http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=842737074 I've run out of clever things to say. It's yet another HV drill, because the workshop doesn't have enough of them yet I guess. Does a fantastic handstand on meteors, but tumbles a little underground (as any small HV tends to do, I've found). 2x Mobile Constructors, for processing ore while you work.
