    Thanks! :)

She's got a 4.0 update some time ago - but I'm thinking about doing a complete "Mark II" overhaul. The question is: should I just update the old design with a completely new one or do a seperate upload, to keep the old one? hm ... :/

I wouldn't mind the current design updated to include the new armored blocks. When I built the blueprint it was the blocks before they made the new armored ones. A new "Sister" ship would be interesting I think, with fleshed out sides where it was hollow before. If you want to I can be your test subject :)

So we decided to do something different, and base a ship off someone else's hull. we found one in the shape of @JRS⁸⁶ 's Dream, which is based on the earlier LEGO Version.

    Here is Geirrid.*

This was a fun build for us, and a nice exploration in interior structure design, obviously, there's still things we're tinkering with so expect updates ;)

    * The names come from an Icelandic Saga, a witch who turned into a Nightmare to attack someone

    Have Fun :D

After seeing a trend in fast CVs, I uploaded one I built back in Alpha 4.? when SVs were king. Pretty sure this thing out-maneuvers the vast majority of CVs out there, with decent firepower and combat steel.

When we get thruster damage, that ship will be so happy it explodes! :D

and a peek at the cockpit view. as much detail was put into the interior as there was for for the outside.

when changes like that happen i'm sure I will be able to to make updates so that it dosn't take damage from its own thruster's but I am very open to suggestions for better placement of engines an thrusters

Does anyone know of a really good (or decent) Capital Ship building tutorial? I would love to learn how to build them but it just seems over whelming to me. I do not really want to just import someone else's, I want to build one myself.

Define "decent". 90% of any CV build is really just artistic. As far as function goes, you put everything you need in a cube and it with "perform" just as good as anything that looks nice. Best advise I can give is to take the time to play around with the blocks to see how they fit and look at some ship art on the web for inspiration

Yea I see what you mean, Most of the entire ship building really is "how it looks". I guess I just don't want my ship to look like a box, the Borg has its place but I am not Borg lol. I just really don't like the fact that when I change the cube from original shape into a different shape that it looses so much of its hit points. I guess that is most people though huh?
    Thanks for the reply!!

PS. I do have one question, when placing the Capital Ship starter block, you build around this correct? It contains the pilot seat and the core under the seat, can I move the core or no?

There are many different approaches you could take; As Rannoc suggests, you could find some inspiration from the web and just dive right in, practice makes perfect... the more you build... etc...
Or, find something on the workshop that floats your boat, but has a few issues. Then comes the *slightly* scarey part; you take that lovely workshop creation, and you RUIN IT! Seriously, take a piece you just don't like and hack it right out! The idea is that now you've ruined it, you have to fix it! Start small, delete sections, rebuild them (maybe from memory sometimes), do this again and again and soon enough you'll be chopping the front from a ship and rebuilding it the way you want!
There are plenty of other ways, experiment by slinging block shapes around and see what sticks, engage in some blueprint sorcery and squeesh two ships together and see if you can make it work. Build right out of your head; lay down a skeletal structure for a ship, build rooms and corridors inside the skeleton and then skin the whole thing in armour.
I think my point is, there are as many ways to build large ships as there are large ship builders. I have many of my own idiosyncratic processes and it's the sum of all these that (I hope) makes Space Moles ships a little unique.
I'm not sure if I can offer any real insights, because I only do what I do; I follow a rule-set that I've developed by constantly building.
If you want to know any of the stories behind the builds, pm me, or send me friend request on steam.

Armored variant of CV-UFO (up to 2 layers of combat armor). Lots of guns, 2 hangars, space for artillery turret on roof (or for 4 smaller turrets).
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I build it before hover miners, therefore there is no space for hover. Also, internal space is small. Overall, it's not very useful, just a PVE ship, but I like how it's looks :)

I did so paint it! There's some darker grey paint in there if you look closely :p.

On that note I've just made a more PVP friendly version which I gave a very rushed paintjob. I even gave it another name too.
Now I know this sounds pretty edgy but that's what you want in PVP right? To be so edgy you can cut your opponents by just having them look at you!

Anyways I took off the hangar bay/lower engine, removed all the deco parts and lights except one, painted it red and put another control seat deeper in the ship. In all about a 800 block reduction (would be more if It didn't have so many small decorative actual blocks) and is now a 200 device count size 2 vessel with nearly the maximum amount of guns allowed with vanilla restrictions.

The "Carrion Angel" (cos it sorta looks like a bloody ribcage underneath now it's red.. i dunno lol)

What I normally do is make a center line or spine that is the overall length I am looking to build. So if I am looking to build ~60 block long ship I will put about 29 block in front and behind the starter. After that I enable the mirror plane and build the silhouette of the ship. I build the rest in layers and just kind let the design flow. The starting cockpit and core can be removed and added back later.
