You're gonna dig out the ship - with THAT?! Isn't that like excavating a pyramid - with a spoon. And with none of those big spoons. A tea spoon. Cool stuff! I like that you completely wiped out the Abandoned Mine, I wasn't so thorough. Love your base too!
Dig out old stuff with a spoon...thats my Job, i am an archaeologist in real life. I build that thing so small to get inside.
Well that makes sense then And I can understand, I've been to that ship and it gets tight in places. If you find something, let us now. I only dug it out a little bit.
What did I do today? Wellll, it was last night actually but I was waiting out the night in a mine I had dug, staring at the night sky(and listening to the insectman, and other nighttimers wandering around topside) when I noticed a star was "moving"! It crossed my line of vision from a count of 4:48 before sunrise to 2:13! I have never seen one move before! I have to assume it was an orbital station or orbital drone, but seriously it's the first time I have seen one in 130 hours of play.
I've seen that once or twice. I think that it's a relatively recent development. On Skillon, I was amazed to see meteor showers at night.
Dear diary, today i built my first SV and i love the look of it! Screenshots will follow tommorow. I also dug out the back of the MS Titan with a T2 drill because i forgot my HV at my base and i was to lazy to go into my SV to fly back, grab my HV, fly back to the Titan and then dig it out... that are a few hours that i'm not getting back
Well done on the SV. I think that almost everyone has done things that cost them a ton of extra time. I sure have.
I've been on a creative kick lately, no survival gameplay to speak of. Yesterday I got a ton of work done on my new CV and as usual with me, it looks like a big box right now but hopefully I'll be able to change that in the final stages. I learned a valuable lesson; never ever ever build the outer walls of your vessel until you are sure the length and width are final. I kept redesigning on the fly every time I realized a planned room wasn't going to be big enough and the first time that happened I had to remove several hundred blocks from the outer wall, I'll never make that mistake again. Ironically, now that I've finally got the floorplans all laid out, I realize that my cargo bay is bigger than it really needs to be, I could fit probably 60-80 cargo boxes in there so I'm trying to think of a clever way to design that space., maybe make a smaller room within the larger room for the armory or something like that. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it up this weekend.
Today I create this little fellow. The main idea behind it was that workers (and even my in game character) will need some sort of help, while constructing base. You know, to carry stuff around, manufacture doors and parts, etc. It's equipped in mobile constructor, transport platform and oxygen supply. I like how it looks and i think to leave him even after everything will be fully builded. I will park him somewhere on production hall and it will blend in into area perfectly
Very convincing design. It suggests to me that scattering around some ground support equipment would make a nice addition to a person's permanent base. There's some creative potential for fire trucks, O2 and fuel service, ordnance loaders, crew transport, tow tractors... A quick image search for "airport ground support equipment" provides tons of inspiration.
Never know if something could get banged up & the little helper buddy could be of use in making Repairs easier.
I'm really digging the new spiral staircases, just the thing to connect the bridge with flight control....and as a bonus, the head for the bridge fits perfectly in the middle of it.
Whaaaaat they actually did spiral staircases?! I was like half-joking when I suggested it... they look great though!
Finished the cargo bay for the most part. The ship may look like a big cube, the hangar may be a confusing mess and we won't even mention the engine room.....but I'm happy with the cargo bay.
Captains log….. We have retrieved the Estruim and Zascosium we needed and are now turning towards home. My engineer tells me we are running short of warp fuel, and that we will need to watch our jumps so we don’t run out. I pull up the Star map on my console and while in Masperon orbit, I notice that there’s a wormhole to the trading post which would cut at least one planet off our jump list, besides the wormhole doesn’t use warp fuel as far as I can remember. As I set course for the trading post, I lock in the coordinates, and start powering towards the jump point. As I press the warp button, all I can hear is a scream of wait coming from my comms. To Late. We arrive at the trading post with three units of warp fuel left in the tank, and none in any of our containers, we’re stranded. There we are , we have plents of fuel, food, oxygen, but no warp fuel to speak of. I turn to the crew and apologize, then ask what next. We decided to send out a mayday to one of our faction in hopes that he could send some warp fuel to the trading post. Hours later we finely get a hail back, and work out a way to put some fuel up on the market and grab it. Having got the warp fuel problem out of the way, we decided to head to Akua first so we could drop some of our rare ore off to our faction friends on the planet before heading home to Omnicron. We land on Akua, and off load some of our ore. We lift off and head for Orbit so we can be home on Omnicron before dinner. As we enter Akua Orbit, My Science Officer spies a freighter off in the distance. The decision made to intercept this freighter and take it’s goods, we power up our weapons, and set an intercept course. We make short work of its exterior weapons and most of its engines when we intercept a signal. The thirty minute destruct timer has been initiated. We rush to get into a position to pick the freighter clean before it blows, my engineer jumps in his SV and flies over, while me and my science officer EVA over to the Freighter. We were over at the freighter for about five minutes when we start hearing explosions hitting the freighters hull. I move over to a window and see crimson bolts flying through space towards us from another freighter and a couple of drones. I yell to my crew to abandon the freighter and head for our ship, since I knew that would be the next target. I myself used my multi tool on the ships hull to make a quick exit and get out as quick as possible. I heard my engineer scream he was headed for his SV, I yelled back forget it, there’s only about 4 blocks as I jet packed by what was left of it. The three of us we dodging what seems like a million crimson red bolts of death to get to our ship, I was surprised they hadn’t shot up our CV at this point. Why do we always say the stupidest things that then start to happen? As we reached the Ship, I was running for the cockpit to get the ship out of here all the while screaming to my crew to get seated and fast. I got in the pilots chair and turned the thrusters back on, why did I turn them off? Again no time to get all pissed off, we need to get out of here. With power to the thrusters restored I hit the reverse and take it negative to get out of all the red around us. We’re getting pounded bad, I am trying to figure out how we still have any power or control, but am glad we do. Once away from the scene of the crime, we take a look at our ship, there is a huge hole blown into the top of the hull that goes right through to the bottom. We lost the warp core, warp tank, two generators, two bottom thrusters, and a fuel tank, but we remain operational. This is when we discover that our Engineer isn’t with us, we hear laughing over the comms…he’s on Akua, having been cloned when his seat was blasted into the ether of space. We took our ship back to the base on Akua, and made the necessary repairs. We were lucky that day, the cargo container holding all our rare ores, and the sixty warp fuel I was holding onto survived. Once repaired, we lifted off again and made it back to Omnicron without further incident. Captain signing off……. TRUE STORY. Got to love this game!
Today I tinkered with the Playfield customizations to try to learn more about setting up a Freighter AI. I've figured out most of what's possible and what's not possible to configure and am working out a custom star system I'm hoping someday to host multiplayer. The AI is going to be a blast to set-up. Even more so if we get the ability to assign faction and titles to the AI objects as they spawn in and travel around. It's going to make for some really interesting playfields. Keep expanding those YAML configurations Eleon! This is great work you are doing! I'm having as much fun tinkering with customizations as I do when I play it or when I build.
Landed the CV on Zeyhines It's a nice desert planet and a change from the game days I just spent on Masperon. So far, my build a base with farm on every planet quest is going very well. I haven't had to return to any of my previous stops and I have way more stuff, 1200+ blue crystals for instance, than I started with. The best part for me so far was extensively reworking both my CV and SV in survival mode. I build all of my bases in it as well. Once I've fulfilled the elements of my quest on Zeyhines, I'll have three planets, Omicron, Oscutune and Aestus left.
