Can this be done?

    Not sure if this is the most correct place to ask this, but I am trying to hash out a wholly new scenario, and this is at least related.

    At this stage of the game, it is possible to NPC (Polaris or Zirax) Mining Ships present in Asteriod fields and can they actually mine ores?

    Hm, I am no expert but as they do not on the Planet surface... eventually ask @ravien_ff as he tweaks his EDEN scenario quite often;)

    You can sort of fake it. I added polaris mining fleets to my scenario that look like so:

    They don't actually mine anything, instead the whole ship, beams, and asteroid are a single BA blueprint. I used xenosteel with the new blank emissive texture to create the beams and lined them up with the mining turrets or drills. They also have a nearby foreman who sells ore, and sometimes a hauler that can be raided for more ore. The nearby asteroids are owned by Polaris and they attack you if you try to mine them up.

    It looks pretty neat but they are static bases and don't move or mine the asteroids. I hope one day we get some basic mining AI, even if it's just for appearances.

    I’ve seen your static bases - nicely done btw, but I was looking for some actual prowl-around and mine for real mining AI - but I guess that will have to be a teaser for B06 ;-)

    I may take a slightly different approach for the ambiance I’m wanting, though at my current rate of progress, RC1 may be out before I’m this far lol

    Excellent work. Making space more alive should be devs top priority. Factions encountering each others in space is the next thing I want to see.
