I was trying to create a new server/scenario and the number of starting planets seems to be all messed up. I haven't made a sever in about a year or so but for some reason adjusting the number of starting planets in the solarsystemconfig.yaml works in multiples of 4. I didn't change anything at all from the Default Multiplayer and I got 8 starting planets (but the text below says it should only be 2). If I change the number below to a 1 I get 4 starting planets or if I change it to a 3 I get 12 starting planets. I even re-downloaded the dedicated server and left the solar system config file alone and I still get 8 starters (despite it saying only 2). What am I missing? # solar system SectorPlanets: - TemperateStarter, [2]
By default, randomized scenarios create between 2-6 solar systems depending on seed. For multiplayer, this means you will have 2-6x more starting planets because each solar system will have starting planets. This will likely be changed in alpha 12 with the new galaxy generation. For now, you can manually edit the sectors.yaml file in your save game and change some of the starting planets into non-starting planets so you get the number you want. Or use a fixed scenario such as the Default Akua-Omicron one or a custom one off the workshop.
Thanks for the reply! I Actually had figured out it was the solar systems last night by playing around with the seed. However, I still appreciate the reply and now I at least know there is no way to edit this right now so I can save myself the trouble of looking into the files more. So thank you!
