Hi, I'm not 100% sure what happened here, so I'll describe the events and hopefully others can confirm my suspicions. I was updating a CV using the player Drone with several blocks on the Connected Toolbar for use. An enemy Drone gets close - I miss the Player Drone radar trick - without me seeing it and shoots down my Drone before my own turrets take care of it. While never leaving connection range I looted the Drone (using my own Drone, freshly deployed) and went back to working on the CV. I deployed the Player Drone and switched to the connected toolbar but it was empty. Checking the linked storage - the link had not been broken to be clear - the blocks I had on the Connected Toolbar were all gone. I will of course use the Item Menu to get them back, but that's not the point. I am aware there have been other issues where items on a Connected Toolbar can be lost when the player gets out of range of the connected storage, however, in this case I was at no point out of range yet still lost everything on the bar. Scoob.
You're not alone. On HWS servers, many players have been experiencing items getting lost from connected containers AFTER the supposed "fix" for that issue. They are saying it is even worse than before the bug was fixed. I'm assuming you are in single player mode, which would be the first report I've seen in SP since after the fix.
Thanks. The issue with losing connection - i.e. getting out of range - causing toolbar items to be lost is one I've had numerous times in SP, though not recently. So that part of the problem appears to be fixed for me, not that I've explicitly tried to test it. I simply go out of range accidentally from time to time and I've not lost anything. This current issue though, where at no point did I lose connectivity my Drone just died, is new for me. It would be interesting to test in MP, with one player deploying their Drone with a connected toolbar, while another shoots down the Drone. Scoob.
I've had another new variant - at least for me - of this issue... I had a Connected Toolbar to storage on an SV. On the Toolbar were 24 Large Concrete Blocks, in the Connected Storage were 30 Fusion Cells. While flying around, at no point did I break the connection to this inventory, so no leaving range and certainly no manual disconnection. Blocks were clearly on Toolbar, Fusion Cells clearly in the Storage. I admit, I was using the "Blocks on the Toolbar" exploit to remove their weight from my SV. Not to "cheat" as such and have the SV fly when it could not, but rather just so it'd move at a decent speed. I got back to my CV, landed, got out of the SV and brought up some Storage on my CV (Left Panel) and then the Connected SV Storage - still connected - and both the 24 Concrete Blocks that were on the Connected Toolbar AND the 30 Fusion Cells that were not had both vanished. So, items in Connected Storage but NOT on the Connected Toolbar can vanish. I've only had stuff on the Toolbar vanish previously. This explains why I often seem to have less of something than I should. I had eight Large Optronic Bridges vanish from my main Constructor Storage recently, which is a huge blow. While I'm generally careful will connected storage, specifically watching that items on the Connected Toolbar go back into the Connected Storage when I disconnect. These two recent issues have caught me out. To summarise: - I lost items on the Connected Toolbar when my Drone was killed, not once leaving range or manually disconnecting the Storage. - I lost items on the Connected Toolbar AND the Connected Storage while remaining connected at all times. - There is of course the widely-known loss of Connected Toolbar items (sometimes) when going out of range etc. Cannot recreate this at will, cannot see a pattern yet. I'm just doing "stuff" with a Connected Inventory and stuff gets lost. Scoob.
I notice this has been flagged "Currently not reproducible" which isn't a surprise. I cannot reproduce it at will, it's just that it's happening constantly. I'm simply playing the game, not doing anything special or weird, and cannot recreate the issue at will, though it does often occur several times during a longer gaming sessions when I'm building stuff. It happens and I monitor what I'm doing / just did carefully but cannot reproduce it. I then forget about it and carry on playing then it'll occur again at some point. When I'm building, the following are usually true: - I'm on a Base of mine, connecting to an inventory on that Base. - I'm often working on a CV docked to that base / on terrain near it. - I switch away ("t") from the connected toolbar to use something on my regular toolbar, then switch back. - I go out of connection range (rare) and when I reconnect, anything on the connected toolbar has gone from both the bar and the connected inventory. - Drone gets destroyed - not goes out of range, but is destroyed by a Drone for example. These are just normal things pretty much and might be purely coincidence rather than part of the cause. This is a very frustrating issue though and I've lost items that are literally irreplaceable outside of console commands. I lost two large CV thrusters the other night, that'd used up most of my rare materials to build. Had to IM them back in. This could be a real show-stopper for MP gameplay. Is there anything that can be placed in the game to track items moved to a connected toolbar to aid in tracking this one down? It seems to happen at least once every session for me of late. Scoob.
