IDEA Since I saw NPC ships flying around in orbit or since trading stations have been sitting on planets ready for players to come and go, I've been wondering. I had this idea of the player being able to build ships and sort of auto pilot them from A to B, trading goods. Kind of like in no mans sky and a few other games where you can send of ships to trade or mine or combat. You would have to make some kind of block that costs a ton of stuff and then maybe see a map of discovered trading stations where you can select a route, with a button to switch between trading, combat and mining. Maybe even build outposts to store minerals and then you can build cargo ships which can warp between systems to get the mined or traded stuff back to a main base. This gives me another idea which is auto-piloting ships your sitting in, but that's not what I wan't to discuss here. SHIP TYPES The mining ships would work like an auto miner and only in one sector, until you manually change that sector to another when the resources are empty and also deposit minerals in outposts in that sector when available or just keep them stored. Cargo ships would travel between bases in your faction, able to warp between systems taking a specified amount of specified cargo with them, always waiting at a base until a selected cargo container in that base has all of the required stuff. Trading ships would go from one trading station to another in the same system (as long as the faction they belong to are at least neutral with you) and sell the cargo they carry and buy the cargo you select, gaining money all the time if you chose the route well. Combat ships would go to a sector with a drone base or enemy CV's and attack every type of enemy you selected, similar to managing a turret. But of course only attacking new enemies when the shield is recharged and enough ammo is available. If ammo is empty you would have to refill it by flying there or warping the ship to you and back again, which you can do with the fleet console block. Every ship would require a block according to their task SUGGESTION In the game you can see the huge territories of zirax, kriel, etc. but as a player you never get to make an empire like that. I would suggest maybe making a DLC of it because it probably would be a ton of work to make this, but I would love to see this added to the game as something to do after you made your CV and got to space, exploring a bit, then wondering what else to do in this game.

That post is definitly a very similar idea, but I think that system has too much micro management. No need for different npc classes or even food for them as said in one of the comments
