It would be coolf if we had a way of taking another player vessel without have to destroying the core and replace it with ours. Hack Tool: The hack tool would be a tool like the multi tool but with a different function. It would shot a laser, like the multi tool, but the laser would be use to convert a player ship to our ship. This tool would work only in SV, HV and CV (not BA). For the player hack a player vessel to become his vessel, he will need keep shooting the laser of the hack tool in the cockpit vessel. After some time doing that, the palyer vessel will be his vessel now. The hack tool would work too in doors, ramps, hangar doors and other blocks that are use like a door to a vessel. If the hack tool can't hack doors too, it will be useless, because the player would never reach the other player vessel cockpit, especially big vessels, like a CV, that usually have doors to get inside of it. Once he hacked the door of the vessel to open his way for the cockpit, he can start hacking the coockpit to make the player vessel his vessel. The hack tool cant work in NPC vessels as well. PVP Zones: Hacking can be considered an attack on another player constructions, so it would only work in PVP zones. All the vessel in PVE Zones will be immune to hacking as long as they stay in the PVE zones. But the hack tool can work in NPC Vessels, even if they are in PVE Zones. Only other players vessels are immune to hacking in PVE zones. Hacking (Examples of Use): One example of using a hack tool is lure a player to you with a distress signal in a way thet makes the player want get outside the vessel to explore the abse or the other vessel form the signal came from. When he is inside the unknow vessel, you go to his vessel, making sure he did not saw you, and start hacking while he is away. PS: I know that we dont have a distress signal now in the game, but i believe this will soon be implanted in the game. Other example is that a player would be capable of invading a vessel of other player without need to have a lot of fire power to destroy the vessel blocks, he would only need to find a blindspot in the player turrets for the turrets not shoot him, and then start hacking. Anyway, i think the hack tool will increase the number of traps that a player can do to other players. It will be cool to do that and then watch the player looking for his vessel without knowing what happened. kkkkkk
The one problem with this that I could see is that players would simply wall off their cores and cockpits with armor blocks when leaving their ship.
Yeah, i know, unfortunately, theres no way for prevent the players of doing that, at least not a way that i had think about.
The essential problem of allowing players to take control of other players' ships is that there's massive potential for griefing. The only way I could see this working would be if NPC crew could move around and take independent action, so your ship(s) could defend themselves or take evasive action (escape via warp jump, etc) when another player attempted to board/hack them. Otherwise, this mechanic would be a tax on casual players that only played a few hours a day or less.
Sorry for the rain of negativity on your fun sounding idea, but I'm not a fan either. Currently the core replacement idea works well, and is only possible after you have breached the defenses of the target vessel. At the very least you have to defeat turrets and then find the core. I'd prefer to leave it that way.
I Love it! Please explain me: How could it be worser to See your ship fly away than See it explode (with you inside!)? Jon2 explained it VERY detailed, and also said that it should be possible only in PVP zones (for playervessels). And also it was already said that this is possible: core replacement. Still cores aren't walled more than usuall. So i can't see more grief-danger than already existing... Its 2022 now, and this Feature could give a kick tonthe game.
