the visor thingy handheld. what does it do? When holding a "drill" you can see those chunky exploding ores, I forget what they call it, but when using the survival tool you cannot. Why are the rules on this not clear. so what is the point of the Geordi laForge visor?
You should be able to see the outlines as long as your survival tool is in drill mode. At least, that's how it worked before the patch and there is no changelog saying that was intentionally changed. So if it's not working then it may be a bug.
I'm going to do a save and then "godmode" my game to try and see if this is the old bug of "invisible resources". Far too often a gold resource is robbed from me because of a bug where the resource disappears but is still indicated on the map.... (a minute later) Oh, turns out this is the favourite bug of the dis-appearing resource. The survival tool is working perfectly, just the ores bug. Do we know what the visor thingy does?
The ore scanner, when in your player inventory, will allow you to see the blue outlines of underground ore nuggets (SSOR style) deposits, while you are currently holding a drill (survival tool in drill mode, drill, vessel drill, etc). It has no effect on voxel style deposits.
Worked. I had encountered another one of those invisible SSOR nugget type deposits of gold in early game, but after checking the config files confirm there is no difference for the 2 tools. It took me a while to realise that the bug was still not fixed. I had just got into a mode where I thought the gold was not visible with the survival tool - would be great if that bug got fixed, it happens so often now it's almost not funny.
