I think the gunplay aspect of the game has been left behind with all the great improvements.

The most simple way I think this can be greatly improved is a smoother reload animation that doesn't extend to another weapon when you are swapping.

    (Other suggestions)

-Ready speed for each weapons. Prevents just filling your toolbar with weapons to avoid reloading them mid fight altogether. Give pistols a faster ready time to make them extremely valuable as a sidearm.

-Some armor mods on combat would be nice. Armor mod tends to just slow you down and tends to be more of a detriment rather than a benefit. Some ready weapon speed (see above) and reload speed mods would be nice.
Also, a mod that slows down injury progression (does not prevent injuries). Maybe a mod that reduces ammo mass.

I know that on foot gunplay isn't the main focus of the game. I just think that this aspect would make everyone appreciate POIs more when raiding the inside areas.

Hmmm... do enemies in this game even have armor? Does weapon caliber even matter? It doesn't seem so s far as I can tell, so perhaps another layer to the gunplay? Good way to buff pistols without making them OP (basically good against unarmored targets, like most creatures, but terrible against mechs and armored troops)
