Hi there, I want to build a base i can drop from orbit. Like an emergency drop pod, with the basics. i do not see a way to do this yet. there are no thrusters you can place on a base, so it will have to start as a ship, carried by another ship. then once it reaches ground it become a base.
You could somewhat "fake" it by building an SV that is attached to your orbital platform or even a CV. It would be markedly larger than the average SV, which isn't so bad in and of itself, as I've built quite a few very large SV's. You won't have all the amenities you would get with a standard "base" - limited to the SV Constructor, limited number of other equipment, but it would give you a means to drop in with more comforts than your standard "escape pod" has. It won't ever become a BA - it will always remain an SV, but if your design is solid, you can easily construct a true BA (Base) around it, or adjacent to it, even re-use it at a a later time and either an emergency escape vehicle for said base, or a means of reaching out and exploring the solar system as an otherwise serviceable vessel.
