After trying to build a base several times (with the use of SI in debug menu) and having it collapse at each attempt, I have a question for the developer: Is this feature complete since we are at version 1?
Oh thats a nice question. I would like the structural integrity a little bit more complex as well. Like with ceilings. I would like that a sou bled layered ceiling would need less pillars as support. Or that there would be use of triangular ceilings/ bows. Or that we could use the truss block for actual truss function.
Yeah it feels like physics for kindergarten kids to me. It’s been like this since it was introduced. I wouldn’t have bothered implementing it if it wasn’t going to be improved down the line.
There is what I would consider a bug that has been around since 1.0 and never has been fixed. When you spawn a large base, say like a big landing pad, there is an 'invisible' SI box (maybe 100m in all directions) around your player's avatar. If any part of the base spawned outside of this box, the SI will not be calculated and the part of the base outside it will show as all red. The workaround is to stand your character near the center of where you want to spawn your base and center it over top of him vs spawning the base in a direction far away from your character. Yes the camera will get wonky and you might not be able to see much, but that's just the way it is for some reason. Maybe @Hummel-o-War can comment on why that is.
Short answer....As a matter of fact SI does not work in realistic manner bad rather as it is as a feature in the game.So you will still see blocks hovering in the air without support underneath them, and you can still salvage them.
