Build: v1.12.1 4742 (Official release, not beta.) Mode: any Platform: Steam (Linux runtime, not flatpak) DLC Installed: Yes (Dark Faction) SERVER NAME: N/A SEED-ID: N/A If applicable: MODIFIED PLAYFIELDS: None Reproducibility: Every startup / alt-tab Severity: Minor (but very very annoying) Type: Not sure how to file this, but global I guess. Summary: Mouse input sensitivity is incredibly low until accessing a text dialog. Description: Initially when starting/loading the game mouse sensitivity is really low even if sensitivity is set to the max. Accuracy seems to be worse as well (possibly smoothing or acceleration is forced on?) Accessing a text dialog (such as the Explorer's Guild machines) makes it suddenly go back to normal. Whatever is happening here probably has a subtle effect in Windows as well. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Load or start a game in Linux. 2) Move mouse. 3) Find explorer's guild or another machine that initiates a dialog popup when using and use it. 4) Move mouse again. Full details: Whenever I run the game I find that the mouse movement is really slow at first. I have to raise the sensitivity way up and it's still sort of not right. It feels like maybe it's as little as 1/3rd of normal sensitivity. Then when I access any text dialog popup such as the Explorer's Guild machines, suddenly sensitivity is back to normal and I have to lower my sensitivity setting back to where it should be. I recognize that Linux is obviously going to be pretty low priority and basically not on on the radar probably (though I do point out the rise in handheld devices that often are running Linux -- I admit this probably wouldn't do well on a Steamdeck, but some of the latest are even more powerful,) but the fact that accessing a text dialog implies this is not a Proton bug, but something strange in how the game is handling the mouse. So this probably has at least some effect in Windows as well. My best guess is mouse smoothing or acceleration (negative?) is being forced on or something like that, but then gets switched off when accessing such a dialog box. This may require that mouse acceleration be disabled in the system itself to see the difference. I keep it off for more accuracy in mouse movements and normally I play games like this with sensitivity set about 1:1 (which seems to roughly correspond to 50% on the sensitivity bar in this game.) I do not have this problem, nor a similar one in any other game. I also believe that I did not have it in Empyrion in the recent past, but I am not sure which version seems to have made this change since I always get confused on where to set sensitivity in a game due to there being no actual proper standard across different games and engines for this and none tell you what the setting you've selected actually does. (Sorry, I wish I could help narrow it down more.)
