I dreamed about flying up to an alien POI with a bunch of scary aliens and noises. There was a green glowing sphere at the top. I flew up to it in my spacecraft and turned on a device that was called a Short Range Scanner. I scanned the green sphere and it gave me Advanced Warp Drive. I got on chat and said, 'Finding all the scanner parts really paid off.' I woke up thinking, hmmmmmm.... Would it be so hard? Would it be worth it? Give certain objects advantages to the player if scanned. Have multiple scanner tech to control what you could find. Add science equipment to improve the scanning results. There's very similar stuff in a lot of games like Skyrim. But it would add a whole new set of things to do, and might make my current lab rooms more than just greeble... because you're actually searching for anomalies like Spock if he got dumped on Ningues in an escape pod. Maybe there could be certain global advantages like reducing the components you need to build stuff or adding a device that increases the hit points of steel. Hmmmmm....
I had a dream that I walked up to a locked door, entered the code, and managed to walk through it on the first try! ...and then I woke up.
