I use EPD to preview planet decorations. You can also browse the playfield files and become familiar with what there is. You can also find every single item in the new configs included with the game in A12. Biomes are listed in the playfield_dynamic.yaml file for the playfield. You can also just make whatever custom biomes you want. Open the space playfields and you can see how they spawn them.
