Hello Pantera and folks. I believe it is long overdue a ship combat overhaul to Empyrion.

There are some little things which would go a long way and some seem fairly simple to implement. Some ideas are:

    • Target locking: the ability to specify a designated target, so if you are fighting two ships your guns won't switch around depending on who is closer.

    • Target Camera: a camera mode to lock onto your target, so no matter which direction you turn in, the target is in view. It is hard dodging incoming fire when you turn away because you can't see it coming

    • Power Management; Some sort of available power pool which you can switch between weapons/shields. For more resistance or firepower.

    • Zooming: When you are in 3rd or 1st person, because of the scale of a game, trying to put your direct fire weapons on an enemy turret or elsewhere is hard, enable a keybind to zoom your view.

    • SoundFX: Shield impact soundfx. Louder weapon fire soundfx from 3rd person. (can hear them if in the turret)

    • Missile Decoys: Being able to use chaff or ecm to decoy missile spam
    • Signature: Bigger the ship, further out it is detected, smaller = more stealth
A revamped interface less cluttered. But more functionality moved to the HUD from the control panel. Side panels which disappear unless mouse over which could bring up your signals and main system toggles. An interface less dependent on going into the control panel when in combat.

Categories of weapons. Small, medium, large, each category goes up in CPU. So small weapons have faster tracking, less powerful and less range. Large weapons have slow tracking, more powerful, more range. Leads to difference in combat ship class and roles, from destroyer to dreadnought.
