So, I decided to give it a try. First real mission, that ancient tower. OK, get inside, go down then 'open door'. Nothing I could do would register that step, both doors opened and closed in multiple way. So, let's use a drone to scout that dungeon. Nice, there's a roll cover, I can open that with drone. Popup with story text appears, quest changes to 'talk to inmate', great! Now, just get there. Gunning down residents took some time, but it's easy. Then BOOM, explosion somewhere. What exploded? Inmate (well, explosive block he was placed on technically). About 15 minutes of playtime, gotta be a record! (as this was probably on timer, only real solution to this I can see is to use something drone can't trigger. a lever perhaps?)
A "known issue" ... given that the basic premise is that Kar'han was placed in cryo by the Zirax hundreds of years before, apparently to preserve a legacy virus sample with the explosives as a failsafe, having a single unlocked door doesn't seem to fit the story. It also begs the question of how the infected warriors (all of them) got into the warren under the ancient tower without destroying the concealed door and how they became infected. If the Zirax did it then they would have a research team monitoring the infected from a secure position- teleporter on the combat glass booth side of an A/B airlock pair of blast doors into the caverns. If the Talon did it to themselves how did they get down there, how did they come in contact with the virus/parasite if not by interacting with Kar'han who seems to know nothing about them? The easy fix for the chamber would be to seal it with a lever on the outside as you suggest- that way the player needs to be there. Another option would be to put a control panel on the outside and use the conversation engine interacting with IDA to explain what's going on and giving the player the option to wake him up to question him ("Commander- it appears that the subject is still alive and in better condition to the infected Talon we've encountered. If I trigger the wake sequence you may be able to question him but based on power reserves you are almost certainly going to trigger the facility failsafe so be ready to run!") Or nerf the sensor so drones don't trigger them. Interested to see the how/if on the fix for this one- using a drone to recon seems like standard procedure.
