currently Projectile- Cannon turret shoots 30mm "bullet" should be explosive rounds
damage of 550 times rate of 171 rpm giving total DPM 94,050
    BUT
Projectile- Minigun turret shoots 15mm bullet with
damage of 425 times rate of 300rpm giving total DPM 127,500 (plus dpm of 33,450)
In WW2 the aircaft guns when from MG to cannon because MG had more chance of hitting but
did less damage BUT the cannon 30mm "explosive" hit less but one hit could take down an aircraft by
doing much more damage with hit.
Also the whole selection of weapons should be reviewed.
example material carried vs energy generated (projectile/missile/torpedo vs energy weapons)

    Thanks for the great game

I'm inclined to agree. At the very least, there should be an available upgrade, This goes to the Gatling gun as well. Just looking at the Gatling gun you can see the barrel diameter is larger than the minigun turret barrel and more like the 30mm cannon barrel.

The Apache Attack Helicopter has a 30mm chain gun with an extremely high rate of fire and does serious damage to its targets. Our Gatling guns should have similar capabilities.

Let's not forget the flak cannon. It is depicted as a dual-barrel weapon but fires only one round. It ought to fire at twice the current rate by firing alternating barrels like in Star Wars. (I was going to say "like WW2 A-A guns, but this isn't WW2)

Turret ai has a maximum fire rate of 0.5 (0.25 in 1 .7). So 120 rpm in 1.6 or 240 rpm in 1.7.

So, the lower number is the higher rate of fire and I can't increase beyond the rate you mentioned?
Thanks. I can't remember if I had figured that out or not. Good to have it explained. :)

    What about fixed weapons?
