I would like to update my Custom Scenario 'Alternative Game Start' (can be found on the Workshop) to be playable with the new game update 1.12+. Is it enough to replace all the content in the folder RandomPresets with the newest files? Thank you!
Depends what files you have in your scenario. If you have config files then you need to update those too. If you have playfield files then likelly you need to update some of those aswell. Same counts for POIs Or basicly for any file you have. You can choose to not do it, but then you wont get the changes we have done
Remember that you do not need to include most files if you just want to use the default ones. So for example if your scenario contains no custom blocks, you don't need to include a blocks config file. If you're not editing any of the vanilla playfields, you don't need to include those, just your custom ones. For MOST files, the game will take them from the default game if they are not present in your scenario. There are some which are mandatory, like the solar system configs and sector file.
Thank you ravien_ff, basically I have modded the PDA files and made custom changes to the sector files and all the starting moons (playfields). While I think I can keep the playfields your answer reminds me to include the sector file and also to take and mod again the PDA files. Currently my scenario crashes the game otherwise.
If you check out my scenario here, this gives you an example of what files you absolutely need, and which ones you can exclude. This also gives you the full folder structure for a custom scenario along with some helpful readme files in many of the folders explaining how to use it. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2122687972
Yes ravien_ff, thank you. I'm alreadsy using this template, without it I never would have been able to make a custom scenario
