Hi, I would like to make a request for additional slope blocks that are less steep. Currently the game only has 1/1 and 1/2 slope blocks and this is quite limiting when it comes to creating contours for ships. I think it would be great to have gentler slopes, like 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, and maybe even 1/6. It would probably be good enough to have them as whole blocks instead of being composed of 1x1x1 sized pieces if that would make the process simpler. There are some amazing creations in the Steam Workshop for this game, but it's clear that attempts to recreate the classic ships from various sci-fi worlds is quite limited due to the lack of slope variety, creating these really jaggedly looking surfaces. Here are just a few examples. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3508796765 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2827584579 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1613232342
Along with the slope additional blocks we could do with some larger diamiter curved blocks. But understand that though we only have 1x1 and 1x2 at the moment we also have a great deal of shapes to match those, inner/outer/transitional etc, so it really would be a big ol pile of blocks to match in, and I can't see that happening... as much as I'd love it, For it to be usable I think an 'auto suggested picker thing' (where a two directional gradient is needed) would be usefull, because finding the right block now is sometimes difficult enough for noobs and the likes of 'forgetful' me. Don't get me wrong though, many of those builds could look so much better... that in turn might turn into greater sales!
Well, I was thinking that the longer slope blocks wouldn't necessarily come in 1x1x1 pieces. For example, a 1/5 slope would be a 1x1x5 block, instead of being composed of 5 blocks. This is how modders implemented them in Space Engineers (I don't know if I'm allowed to utter those words here). In fact, this sort of thing is in such high demand that multiple individual Space Engineers modders had created these independently. I'm currently using a 1x3 ramp for wall slopes on apartments in a space base I'm creating, but I must say that it's a bit restricting as the colouring is limited and the block doesn't provide for end/corner pieces, so, it can best be used as a set place or a decoration. That said, I really, really, appreciate the existence of it I was going to post pictures but I have no idea of how to do that... again! it's changed and I'm getting old.
Yeah, more slope blocks that can be colored and textured properly would open up so many more possibilities.
There are no 1x3 blocks in the vanilla game, these are only in one of the workshop scenarios. As a result, they do not have access to the games scripts for the texturing and colouring hence why they do not texture and colour properly.
They are also worse for performance since they are rendered as an individual block instead of culling faces like the normal shape blocks do.
Thanks for the heads up. Yes, I'm using RE2 base game, and for the space base I have 8 per apartment with 2 dozen apartments, and a few walking slopes, say around 200 in all, though I recently decided that the still incomplete base looked small and planned a block of 72 apartments in the foyer using these blocks taking the total to some 600 or so... would that significantly alter the performance of my game?, if so I'd need to change it to the 1x2 blocks, and that wouldn't look right at all.
