My UPS suddenly shut down while I was playing, and now I can't load my save game. Actually, the saved game doesn't even show up in the load game list. I can find the save game files on my hard drive (.\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games), but Empyrion doesn't show the game anymore. Is it possible to get my save game back? If so, how?
Usually no, there is no way to get it back. Means it went corrupted due to the shutdown There is one try, delete the game.dat and rename the game.dat.bak to game.dat. If it shows you are lucky, if it doesnt then its broken
I had a similar thing happen but I had success from deleting each of the files, one by one, trying to load the save after each delete. The save file is really a folder, as you know. Probably just one of those files is corrupt, unless it's a super important one, you might still be able to get it back. What I was told to do was to make another save in the same mode and seed and all that (if possible) and instead of deleting files, try replacing them with ones from the new (and working save). It's worth a shot. Again, make a copy of the broken save so you can try several times. For me, all I wanted to get was the blueprints I hadn't saved yet. I'm not 100% the recovered save didn't have other bugs due to deleting parts of it. Worst case is it doesn't work which is where you are now. Or you could just use the console to give yourself the stuff you had before and start a new save. Edit: I just realized after posting that this is almost a week old. Well, you might've moved on by now, but maybe this will help.
